We're adding 2x Staffordshire Bull Terriers to our trip. Mum dad, 2 boys and 2 four legged idiots. It will either be lots of fun, or....... it won't. Look our for a post around May next year advertising 'Two well behaved pedigree terriers'

Indeed. There's a kennels budget, and goodwill from friends along the way.

yeah, he seemed good and knowledgable. I watched him change the CV so I'd have an idea how to do it myself. Seemed easy enough, tho he really struggled getting the old CV out. For the main nut, he used a 3/4 drive socket and 2m breaker bar. It still required his entire body weight on the end!

Good thing I didn't try it myself.

and while I was in Five Dock, I had the sun visor tinting replaced (had to replace the windscreen after the big trip).

cost me $40 to get 5% ceramic film. also made it slightly thinner, so is not in my eyeline.

finally got around to fitting a second fuel filter today. I bought the 2 micron fuel manager kit off ebay (181297556838).

fairly easy to install, and works like a charm. Just don't cut the fuel hose to short like I did!
I finished in the dark, and the install is a bit untidy, so no pics until tomorrow.

Easy enough for a dummy to install?
It's probably something I should be doing soon.
Cheers,
Jay

yeah, I managed it :)
even made a smart call and flushed the lines (using the hand pump) before connecting the final hose

the basic kit is $300. and comes with everything you need

so the Lux has been going well, even did 2 trips to the Vic High Country recently

BUT, today we discovered a problem with the left front CV, yes the one that was rebuilt a few months back :(

there seems to be a lot of play at the inner joint, and there is oil leaking from the diff. not what I want to find when I'm about to head out to Birdsville

Front axle seal takes about an hour to change. Passengers side and drivers side are different part numbers

More likely the "play" came first and that caused the seal failure.

ah yeah, that makes sense.

so I guess the next step is to pull out the CV, check the end. if all good, replace the seal and hope for the best.

In your shoes I'd be wanting to sort out the "play" issue and satisfy myself that all was well there before reassembling with new seal(s)
