put the truck into Bud's Customs today to get spindle bracing and rear recovery bar :)

also adding a tab to the flat plate bar; it'll make it easy to mount my light bar (brought it with me, but I've misplaced the mounting hardware)

well we're in Cairns!

camped up on the Atherton Tableland last night, had a rough one due to the weather and a sick child, so we've been chilling by the beach for the last few hours.

tomorrow we'll head back to the Atherton Tableland to properly do the coffee plantations, and early Wed morning get a couple of electrical jobs done so we can properly charge the second battery

from there, a rough itinerary is as follows: head north via the Bloomfield track, then double back to Maytown for the track to Laura, Old Laura, Cooktown, Cape Melville, Musgrave, then points north :)

sound good?

Cheers,

Chris.

all things considered, I think we're doing ok. we've never done this type of trip before, so its a big learning experience

set up / take down of our camp is getting quicker and easier, but we really need better organisation. as usual there are items we should have left at home, and some things I totally forgot.

once we get away from the cities and the schedules it'll only get better

battery issues are directly related to a lack of preperation, not a faulty item.
Once i get some anderson plugs put onto the redarc dc-dc charger, I'll be able to plug into the existing line so we can properly charge the 2nd batt

not difficult, water was over the bonnet in the hole, but traction was good

I towed one car through Nolans and did 2 recoveries on other crossings

low tyre pressure and gentle right foot were the order of the day
