It could be a number of things and the best way is just to work through them from cheapest/easiest to expensive and hard.

With the random cutting in and out etc I would say there is a bad connection.

I would take both terminals off the battery and hit everything with the steel brush. Put everything back on and see how that goes.

You may need to charge your battery any way but I would also put a volt meter on it to see what that is like. Should be around the 12.8V mark sitting there and 13.6 + V when the motor is running.

You can use a hammer to lightly tap the alternator is that is the issue to get you out of trouble but obviously be careful not to damage it.

If you can get the to the auto sparky, take it down. They can test the alternator for next to nothing.

what this guy said julz^^^^^^ earth issue by the sounds of it...

one of my mates has a single cab workmate, when he indicates his lights and radio turns off, very very funny when your talking to him on the phone and he's using the hands free through his headdeck and says "hang on ill call you back, im about to indicate" lol

Re: julz's 06 extracab. New tub

Postby 06lux on Sun, 13 Apr 2014 2:25 +0000

Finally found a black tub. Picked it up today paid a bit extra and he threw the tub liner in Aswell. Will get pics once it's on.

Think I fixed the electrical problems to. Find the wing nut that clamps all the electricals to the battery clamp was loose so I'm guessing the would of been bouncing around causing the head unit and stuff to turn off. Been fine since I found that. Will replace it with a lock nut

I recently purchased a tub but it didn't come with a wiring harness or plugs for tail lights? Anyone know what my options are? Or do I need to find a harness from a wreckers? Sorry for hijacking the thread just cant seem to find a solution.

Did you come from A tray man? Just go to your mechanics and ask them to re wire it for the tub with the stock connectors. That's what I did.

Re: julz's 06 extracab. Few changes

Postby 06lux on Thu, 22 May 2014 6:56 +0000

Few little updates. Got the tub on. Replaced the shit lights with some eBay led ones from mars. Wernt cheap but the quality compared to standard is way better.
Plasti dipped door mirrors, handles, logos, going to do the sills under the windows. They have started to crack real bad so might help. See how it goes.
Painted the roll bar black also. Don't know if you can tell yet but I hate chrome. STEALTH

Future plans are to get the exhaust fixed up. Because it's dumped at the diff it's melted the outer tube on the solid brake line which can't be good. That should be getting done next week. Either deleting muffler or getting a better quality one.

Hell yeah.. Tuff.
I just put a stainless steel Magnaflow muffler in mine and got rid of the resonators.. deeper sound and no crackling, not real loud which is what i wanted.
What about your RTT? you gonna make a frame for the tub?

Oh yeah. Yeah I hate that crackle that's why I put a resi on in the first place.

Yeah the plan is to make a tub rack same size as the tub and have the tent open to the side. Top of the rack will be 100mm bellow roof line. Have to wait till dads factory quiets down to make it
