So small update...

Injectors are out and are being replaced with genuine denso reco's, New Updated seals to go in with injectors,
Intake manifold and throttle body removed and cleaned out as they were full of crap, Provent 200 separator sitting and waiting to be installed, think I'm going to have to relocate my Arb compressor so I'm thinking under the rear passenger seat compartment ? Primary fuel filter/water separator sitting and waiting to be installed...

Also managed to get one of these things in the picture below  and now looking at 3" exhaust options, thinking the Scott's Rods system ? It's reasonably priced and comes with your choice of thread for the egt probe.. Anyone running this ?

Too say I'm excited to get this back on the road would be and understatement :D :D :D

Jeez mate. You don't muck around. So how did the injectors and seals look when you pulled them out?

Cheers,

Chris.

Re: BAT091 LUX - No more Lux for a while

Postby BAT091 on Fri, 27 Jul 2012 5:44 +0000

Dropped into the shop this arvo and the lux was near ready to kick in the guts, coded injectors started it up and it was running better then it was when it died but still not 100%... checked injection pulse and all is sweet... compression test and found number 3 with no compression at all, probable diagnosis at this point is a hole through the piston... will know more later on, pretty depressing but what do ya do ? do i trust it enough to keep it :? :? :?

Guessing you'll fix it? Once fixed why not keep it? What ever you buy chances are its going to cost you money?

Yea I'll fix it bud... Your right whatever ya buy will cost money, just more annoyed at the moment that I worked my ass off to get a ute with only 120 000 k's to where I want it and this happens... Luck of the draw I guess

Mine has had the cold rattle for the last 2 years I've had it... Never once did I get my injectors checked by Toyota because I am fussy about warming up a diesel engine before I drive it, By this time the noise would settle. There is only so much you can do the rest I guess is unpredictable

better the devil you know than the devil you dont. My advice mate, you're never going to make money out of a car. I would get her fixed up, and money permitting add some other bits to make it more reliable (if there are such things) and keep the lux for many years..
You would have to be a good talker to be able to sell it with the current history/problems as is. I know I couldnt bring myself to by a 4-5yo car thats already had a rebuild, so I doubt others would want to buy it even if you have receipts.

Bad luck, but good luck all the same!
