Thats for the well wishes tony. I have done a lot to her as of recent but now I can start working on a whole new truck :D

Im selling because I want to be able to seat 5 people in the car again and i will be buying a 105 series cruiser with the solid front end and doing that up

I should be able to buy one for between $20,000-25,000 and with what is left from selling the hilux I should be able to kit it out with all the goodies

Hopefully it will end up something like this

coils and the potential of 35's  the only thing that concerns me is that ive read they can be very thursty. But apparently a turbo and 3" exhaust will fix that. It should also get better with an intercooler as well if needed

Re: Ben's white_hilux - Dual Tyre Carrier

Postby white_hilux on Thu, 20 Dec 2012 12:15 +0000

After all my thoughts on selling the hilux I have decided not to (at least for a few more years anyways). Cant really justify selling it, buying a new car and doing the build all over again. Will assess again when I think about starting a family.

So the new project is that I will be building a rear bar and dual tyre carrier for the rear of the lux over my christmas break. With the two spares mounted on the back I will then make a water tank and slot it in where the tyre under the car used to be. That is my plan over my christmas break. The tyres wont be mounted to a pivot like most conventional rear tyre carriers, but instead ive decided to go for the old tow ball slot idea so i can remove the tyres by removing the pin. Ive got some left over steel from when i re-built the canopy and will use some 40x40x3 RHS and slot it into some 50x50x4 RHS which is a nice fit. It will be something like below.

Also keen to get out 4wding again soon after new years

Very nice

I also asked them to check out the squeaking that has been coming from the front lately. it turned out to be the top of the strut rubbing on the hat and therefore it had elongated the round hole and has also pretty much worn 1/4 of the rod coming out of the top of the strut[/quote]

Thats what i need doing. When i purchased my profenders from superior they dnt sell them with top hats. Well when i removed my ome strut the top hat had the exact same symptons as urs. Im forced to use it for now. But wi replace

well i sold my road set of 4 patrol rims with all terrains last week and on friday afternoon I bought a brand new (still has little rubber things on the tread) cooper stt 32 11.5 15 tyre with 15x8 patrol rim for $150 off gumtree, Bargain!!! I realise that the rim wont fit on the front but will replace with an infinity one when funds allow. The rim also has a -22 offset but will do for now. This will be my spare spare to go on my rear tyre carrier that im currently building at home.

As for the tyre carrier, I started it on saturday but didnt get very far as the weather has been terrible up so I postponed work until this weekend. Hopefully I will have it finished by sunday if all goes well :D

In other news, I have booked all my permits to go over to Fraser Island between Fed 20-27 :D have never been so Im really looking forward to it
