How were the track conditions Craig. Did you do OTT or development road.

OTT. the track was fairly easy. Nolans and the 1 before were ok if you were prepared (low pressures and steady on the throttle). we overnighted at elliot falls (after going to ranger station and unsuccessfully trying to pay for a campsite).

overall, it was a fun and bumpy ride up

we're off on a tour to TI tomorrw. then we'll head back down. rough idea atm is: OTT, Weipa, Coen, Jowelbinna, Old Coach road (again), then Cairns, Atherton Tablelands amd points west

we're due in Normanton area on the 30th July and Darwin on the 17th Aug

No good Craig. I hope the difficulty of the track reflects the commitment and damage sustained. ;)

Bugger! Did the bolt break or come loose? I've had trouble with mine coming loose before so I've used lock tight on them. I broke one too and did the same damage. On mine though the main sliding bolt pulled through the rose joint on the sway bar. Looks like you were lucky it didn't grab the stability control wire too. Don't like that hanging there maybe see if you can tie it up or something.

Cheers,

Chris.

While your waiting around in Weipa you should put some photos of the Teli Track up.

Cheers,

Chris.

Pack her with grease then wrap her in cling wrap and she be right till home ;)  But seriously the cling wrap lasts about 500km before it starts breaking down.

Good to see you made it up there. Whats the weather been like to you?

Enjoy the rest 8-)

Craig. See if you can find an inner rear inner tube from a motorcycle and grab some large cable ties you can make a temporary boot to get you out of trouble later on if problems strike again. This would also include the steering rack boot if you get a failure from a stick. As what Chris asked did the bolt snap or come loose?

thanks for the advice blokes
thought it was broken until I got it out, turns out we've just lost the bolt. either way same result
also, looks like we've also lost most of the bolts in the under engine guard too (seems strange)

anyway, the cv will get replaced with a repco jobbie tomorrow. hopefully its done early and not expensive

we try to upload some pics tomorrow

Craig. Spend 10 minutes every night going over the Ute looking for loose bolts. In particular wheel nuts and suspension components, even give the fluids a check every second day or even better every morning before you embark on your journey. How is the Ultimate suspension holding up on the corregations? Driving at high speeds on 8 - 12 inch corregations would sure give it a good test..

thanks Skog, I have been doing a quick check, obviously not enough tho

suspension is holding up well, despite some of the bumps/holes we've hit. I've been keeping it under 80k most of the way, so we can easily slow for rough stuff, but you sometimes still hit holes too fast
