Well guys I have had my canopy painted and I fitted it a couple of weeks ago. I will get picks up in the coming days. I am really happy with the Razorback. I love the single handle, and the slam close of the rear glass. I have to get around to wiring up the internal light, brake light etc. Does anyone know of where I could chase up a wiring diagram for the supplied loom?? I just need to confirm a couple of connection on the relay (connections not numbered or marked)???

cheers murf

G'day guys has been a while since I put a few new pics up so I thought I would throw a couple on.....

Since my last photos I have made a few changes. I have added a Razorback canopy that I picked up on ebay for a huge bargain, I have removed the standard rear bar and modified the towbar to sit 45mm higher, and I have also painted a section of the standard front bar. I wanted to break up the full white front a bit while waiting to fit a bullbar in the future. It might not be to everyone liking, but I think it matching in with the black bonnet protector............

Future mods planned are - possible body lift, fit front bar (cant decide on ARB bar, or go the new tube bar like mmaxx), snorkel, and up the tyres to 285's...

Anyway hope you like the pics, sorry about the quality they are from my phone.....!!

CHEERS MURF

Your temp front paint job looks alright 8-) makes it look different to rest. How's the canopy in the dust and rain?

Mate haven't done alot in the dust yet. And as for rain well we havent had alot to find out (I know hard to believe in tassie)....... The canopy seem to be a really good thing so far. I would like to fit a rhino or rola roof basket to it but the garage door height is stopping that process at the moment.....

I am currently really considering doing a body lift. I have done a few older hiluxes in the past but unsure about a few things with this one. I have read mmaxx's bible so I am fairly squared away with those details, but I have a few other questions.

Does anyone know what mods would be required for the auto shifter, and the 4wd lever...? Also what about the seal around the top of the intercooler intake onto the bonnet, has anyone come up with a mod for that as yet?

Also I am trying to get my hands on a second hand ute back to replace mine. It has a bit of paint missing for where the toneau rubbed, and is also fitted with the plastic knobs that I would like to remove??? I have listed in the wanted section if anyone might know of one in tas............

G'day guys has been a while so I thought I would add a few updated pics of the ute.

I have made a few changes over the last couple of weeks.
I have now changed my wheels over to DC1's. I decided that as I am considering doing a body lift in the future I would like a bit wider offset to compensate for the taller height. I was nearly able to trade my "rockstars" in for what I paid for them so was very happy.....

I have also fitted an Ironman commercial front bar. I decided on the Ironman after alot of thinking probably purley based on price. I was able to get bar including freight for $1045. I then spent a couple of hundred getting it powder coated and then fitted it myself. So for a touch over 1200 bucks I had a colour matched front bar.

I think it looks really good. For the untrained eye it is nearly a match for a ARB (at half the cost). I know alot of people will say that they might not be strong enough, and they dont come with a few of the features that ARB do, and I can understand that, but I dont travel on outback roads at night so I believe the strength is fine for my needs.... It was really easy to fit, and all the fittings etc were of really good quality. I would highly recommend these bars not just for someone on a budget for for general use....

I am still a bit undecided on the looks factor of my Razorback canopy. I like the function of it, but just not sure how well it suits the ute. I probably like the bit more curved look of the carryboy etc.. Any thoughts on this one??

Well hope you like the pics....

mate it rides great no issues. I am running heavy duty springs in the front, and a softer rate of spring in the rear. The razorback canopy being all steel has a bit of weight about it, so having that over the rear is great to take just that bit of bounce out of the usualy unloaded ute. I will probably look at fitting a set of 1 inch lifting blocks under the rear springs at some stage just to lift the rear a touch from where it has settled....

nice to see you didnt throw away the infills underneath the headlights like i did!
i too am another supporter of the ironman commercial bar the new model has had gussets added in the sides for added strength. all in all a good setup at a great price.

BUT... where is your winch? when i bought my bar ironman threw in a winch and $300 recovery kit for $750. another added bonus.

looking good!!!

I really like the indicators and no fog light holes in the bar it makes it look very simplistic.

Also i like the canopy nice a sleek and not too highly mounted in the rear. I have the problem of my car only just fitttin in my garage so a flat topped canopy is what i need. After looking at this one im am actually thinking about getting one. The only reason why o dont have one is because i use to put my moto on the back of the ute but over the last few weekends iv made a custom carrier that goes in my tow hitch. So this means i can now look into a canopy. Whoo LOL

p.s.

I still prefer the Rockstars .....

Yea mate sure did. Gave them a bit of a sand, painted with etch primmer, and painted with spray packs. Did it 3 or so months ago and it is still as good as the day I did it...... I hated the look of the alloy that had gone really dull.... Makes it look a bit different than every other white hilux as well.. :D :D

cheers murf

To be honest when I first painted them I wasn't to fussed if it lasted as I was planned on marking a set of sliders at some stage. But so far the paint hasn't even looked like flaking off. In total it probably cost me about 30 bucks to paint them.. I did spend a bit of time with sand paper to make sure the alloy was a bit scuffed up prior to apply the etch primmer. After the etch I then applied normal primmer and then just plain old gloss black.... I was pretty happy with the result. As there is no real chance of being able to polish the standard bare alloy this was the only option I could come up with at minimal expense to cover the dull and dirty looking alloy.....

cheers
