So its time, the truck goes in Wednesday for all new EFS suspension components for a 2" lift and to carry the load and side steps/sliders with rails. Also picking up a full river 120a AGM battery tomorrow for my aux battery. I'm going to have to relearn how to drive an auto for a little bit as I hop back into the lancer, I'll also have to get used to my butt scraping the pavement again ROFL.

With the ute in at the fabricators/4WD shop I haven't stopped prepping for the rest of the build. Picked up my full river battery... damn its heavy! It would weigh a good 30kg. Also grabbed an under tray box from auto barn got the other one ordered will be here next week. All coming together :D

Also bought an awning off 4WD Supacentre and a double swag. Going to do a custom mount for the awning its gonna be a swing mount for a bit more versatility.

Sorry about the picture quality guys and gals but I only picked it up late. Here it is! Fresh from 4WD surgery. Custom made side steps and rails powder coated black. All new EFS 2" lift with constant load in the front and 300-600 kg's carrying in the leafs in the back with greasable shackles and new shocks. I also picked up the swag and awning today, big weekend ahead I'd reckon.

Got the toolboxes on today with my dads help. The man is a legend. Had to chop out the supports for the rear mudguard the bolt through the box section. Used cup head slightly recessed on top and because the inside of the toolboxes are double skinned no need for reinforcing straps :). Just put a bolt through the mudguard as well to hold it in place as support and I'm really happy with the results. Also had a look at the awning and I'm not sure its worth going to the trouble of fabbing up a swing mount for what I'm going to use it for but that's a problem for another night.

Know exactly what you mean re the Lancer transition. Just spent four weeks in QLD driving the Hilux then back home to Darwin and the Lancer. Cheers MONGO

Did someone say awning? Yeah me!! So I couldn't stand looking at it all lonely in the corner so I bit the the bullet and whipped up a mount. I'm mega happy with how it all turned out it was one of those plans that changed 30 times as new problems arose but its on. It works, its strong and its shady. Planning to actually go somewhere next weekend so I can stop working on my car!

That was before I trimmed up my support at the back. Here's after.

I hate myself and the local tyre joint. They are giving me a good deal to trade in my 235/75R15 for 31x10.5 R15 Kelly's. Damnit right well bigger tyres it is... :D.

Couldn't get the fifth tyre in this week so that's going to happen next week. In the meantime I bit the bullet and paid for an ARB front recovery point. Looks like it should do the trick just nicely all except the cutting of the guard. Now I was looking to replace the stock one very shortly as it has been partially caved in. No point in doing all the work to get it to fit with the recovery point if I'm going to replace it in a few weeks. So it looks like I'll be purchasing at least the front and sump guard from bush skinz very shortly. Best value for money I could find as far as UVP goes.

On another note heading to Kroombit Tops on the weekend for a day trip hopefully I'll snap some photos while we are there.

Packed up yesterday morning, threw the fridge in the back and the missus in the passenger seat and went for a wheel. Met up with a mate who has an FJ and took on the 4WD loop around Kroombit tops NP. I was really happy with everything on the car did it all and then some. It was very washed out and steep, lots of steep and technical tracks, lots of low range. Stopped at the wall for lunch, top little spot.

I didn't take many photos. Too busy having fun :D. Anyway after the tyres go on next week I'll have to tighten up the belt somewhat for a little bit but I'm glad to know the rig is capable as it sits.

I'm feeling slightly guilty because tomorrow I'm going in for new rubber. On the other hand 31" tyres tomorrow :D Lol I'm going to take some photos of the racks I made up for the inside of the toolbox to hold my axe and splitter as well as the new head unit I installed. Went with a pioneers double din unit, not finished yet I need to get something sorted to fill in the sides but I have Bluetooth, iPod connectivity, aux input, CD, hands free phone, all that good stuff. Just need some time now to install the slimline sub as well.

31's and looking tough, I really like them just the right size I reckon.

Image

Image

Also a quick picture of how I set up some hooks in the tool box to carry an axe and log splitter rather than have them taking up floor space in the tool box.

Image

I will throw some pics up of the last of the sound system install when I'm finished with it. That is the slimline sub and the final fit of the new head unit (read: prettying up in the dash). Also have the recovery point to install and seeing as I'm not getting any replacement UVP soon I'll be modifying the factory guard.

Cheers
