Its just one of those things Mitch, i didn't think anything of the fuel usage because of the weight of the trailer but now it's happened it kinda all links together... The joys of owning a motor vehicle lol

Mine has about the same Km’s on it but is a 07.

Did you notice before yesterday you were blowing more black / blue / white smoke or fuel consumption had increased or had the injectors become any worse / rattly?

Doesnt sound good mate....Id be concerned by your description that theres more damage than just injectors.....white smoke out the back Im guessing might be a turbo malfunction....hopefully your pistons are still ok aswell.

Naa no prior symptoms mate... Just the usual cold rattles but when they warmed up all was good... No previous excessive smoke or anything like that

I hope not max, white is smoke generally unburnt fuel yea ? Whit the excessive smoke and it running like a bag of crap I could only put it down to a couple of injectors gone, plus the fact that it was chewing fuel before hand... I'll just have to wait to hear from the mechanic at work n see what they have found :(

Unburnt fuel smoke will be black.
White smoke is oil......turbo seal etc. ;)

I had white smoke on start-up when my injectors were f$@#&%. Havn't had any smoke at all since I had them replaced. So, in my opinion (which I know is worth f$@#&% all), white smoke can be linked to injectors.

Ummm I was under the impression, white equals water, ie head gasket, black is unburnt fuel, especially in a diesel, and blue is oil...it could also be that a water seal is gone in the turbo and thus the white smoke.

Never seen (and I am no diesel expert) a shed load of fuel and white smoke without some water related issue. Hopefully I am wrong!

its certainly an eye opener man... might be worth swingin it in to toyota for a night (as much as an inconvenience it is) and having them do the cold start spec test

I'd put my money on an injector issue for you guys. Mate has an 06 single cab, just did his injectors and had all the same symptoms as you guys have had. He was stuck in Syd and drove it back to coffs rattling like a mongrel. Got his injectors all done for 2500 and its like a new truck now. Guy in sydney was trying to tell him that he could be up for a full rebuild etc and was panicking! He rang the diesel joint in coffs and confirmed what I told him that it will be just injector trouble. He was using a lot more fuel, rattly on start up and not too bad cruising on the hwy until he put in under load, hill etc. Then the rattles would start again.

4 new injectors ordered this morning, going to toyota to have the ecu re flashed, Intake and throttle body will be pulled off and cleaned whilst it's having a holiday at the workshop and I'll check the sump pick up one day soon when I'm back in the shop for a saturday shift... Should be all good when I get it back :D

White smoke is un burnt fuel, blue smoke is oil, and I'm not 100% sure on this last one but black smoke is too lean. But Definately white smoke is fuel. Flick a smoke out in diesle and see
