Yeah mate, will chop the the sides too whan i get a minute and lift the tray another inch as well as an extended shackle in the rear leafs.

Looks heaps better short that's exactly what I did to mine after a few months, knocked 300mm off. Love your tool boxes under your tray, I still havnt got around to building mine

I have the same length tray on my bus, I actually bought an old 2WD Hilux DC tray which is 1680mm already.
Such a better departure angle!
How did you go with the rear lights? Did you make up a new rear mount for the lights at all?

nah, there where a few ways i could of done it but i basically just cut a section out from about 200mm back and just moved the back section with lights etc back there and welded it on. I left the 3mm flooring to length though so there isn't a join.... Make sense?

My departure angle now is 36 Degress
Would be 40 if i didn't have the rear light sorround hangin down.... HHmmmm

Stock departure angle with tub is 23 degress......

just about drive off a 2 foot dropp now mate

Finished off the tray chop, modified the drop sides and latches. Came up pretty good!
As much as I'd loooove a tray like toddies and Parrs i reckon I've got a good medium here, still able to carry a good bit of gear and the tray's low enough to load but also got a wicked departure angle.

Installed Buds extended shackles just to get another inch in the rear, also moved the toolboxes back another 60mm to sort a few rubbing issues on the tray mud guards.

Hey jake, how difficult was it to swap the shackles? Want to do the same thing myself. Whats the process or the easiest way to do it? Did you get more flex? Just want to get another inch in the rear too.

Not hard at all mate, anyone with a couple of spanners could do it.
I put a bottle jack between the leaf springs and chassis rail, undid the bolts on my existing shackles then jacked it up a bit to take the weight off the shackle. Once the bolts felt loose i lightly tapped them out with a hammer. I always keep my shackles pretty greased up so the bolts slid out very easy but worst case scenario you could use another bolt/rod to tap them out.
Once the old shackles are out i put the top bolt of the buds one in and procedded to use the jack to open the spring more until the spring 'eye' lined up with the bottom bolt holes on the buds shackle. Sliped the bolts in and tightened, i also put in some 18mm split washers between the shackle and bolts.

Have taken off ARB steps and starting to Fab some sliders, will be a bit different to what most have. Doing them out of 50x50x3mm shs.
