Steveyb's build

Postby Steveyb on Mon, 21 Jul 2014 7:06 +0000

Well, Given the fact that I have been a member for years now and haven't really done anything in the way of a build thread I thought I would chuck some photos up and what not while I am sitting around doing sweet bugger all!

What I have is a 2011 pre face light SR5
2 inch efs springs with lovells struts in the front and 2 inch reset stock leaves with lovells shocks in the back.
265/70/17 KM2's for shoes.
Arb Deluxe bar.

Got a few other little things such as skog's diff breathers, on board compressor, rhino liner, lights, radios etc etc.

Haven't really done much to it mechanically as being a 3rd year apprentice with 2 mortgages money doesn't come around too often for the old girl to get presents.

So hear is ma ute without the sports bar as I have just taken it off for plasti dipping.
Image

I fitted up some 10W LED work lamps onto the sports bar aswell, I used some DT-2 connectors and some cat clips, then ran the harness down the tube and it then goes into the tub corner at the fron via another DT-2 (so the bar can be removed easily)
Image
Image

Plasti dipped the rear chrome step too for shits and giggles, not really sure what to think of it though with all the other bits still being chrome but none the less I was bored.
Image

fitted up a light bar the other week which goes alright, I have a few of the big LED lights as seen in the middle which I will use 2 of to replace the 2 piss ant narva 175's which are as effective as a candle in a lit room. the centre one is not mounted, just there to show ya's what I was talking about.
Image

Some photos of the switches in the cab for lights and compressor etc
Image

Image

Skog breathers that I got from Amitch
Image

Compressor I have is an ARB CMK12 and I have mounted it up to where the winch would go (that I don't have). it has been working here for years now. after I air up 4 tyres she gets farking hot so it works well cause it get air flow and cools down quickly once you start driving again.
Image

I am in the process of making a rack for the tub similar to what bud does, so once I get going with that i'll take some photos.
Also plenthy of other things to do and that have already been done that i'll post up some stuff about soon too.

Just yanking your chain there Steve, funny how much stuff I recognise on your ute already.

Yeah, for the last time I hope. You still got a resident basketball I hope?

Mattwhite, In WA we source our deutsch plugs (2 pin to 24 pin) and non split black corrugated conduit from Alanco.

Steve, I noticed you didn't use end sleeves on your conduit? Everything alright?

Lights go good for what they are. I only paid $40 delivered for the pair on ebay. The only thing is the stainless bolts they suppy are crap and the powder coat fades very quick. But I sprayed them with plasti dip and changed bolts all good

Re: Steveyb's build - tub rack built

Postby Steveyb on Tue, 14 Oct 2014 3:43 +0000

Got some time to practice on the welder over the weekend, so thought I'd do something constructive and make up a tub rack for the ute, I know it's a bit ordinary but she'll be better once painted or powder coated me thinks.

Snorkel time

Postby Steveyb on Mon, 29 Dec 2014 4:28 +0000

Picked up a TJM Airtek snorkel today, so will fit her up tmrw and take some picks of the process for others wanting to fit the Airtek as opposed to a safari.

Next up I think will be an exhaust for a bit more pulling power with the camper trailer
