If you intend to do your own oil changes…

Then I recommend installing one of those: http://www.quickoildrainvalve.com
I had one in my old vehicle and it is absolutely brilliant. I have just ordered one for the yet to delivered Hilux from: http://lubricationspecialist.com for a total of $26.45 (US) shipped. The N version is better even without a hose.

Hmmm, not for me.

I would be concerned that when the lux drops into the next boggy mud hole the force of the mud will lift /turn the lever opening it ?

Its a great idea though, I like it

It would have to be very clever mud to both lift and rotate the lever...
It actually takes fair bit of pressure in both directions to open so it would be extremely unlikely to ever happen.

if u had front under body guards and transmission guards installed then you'd make the mud's day just that little bit harder too 8-)

After the oil falling on to the chassis and making a b mess I put one of those fumoto's on and fit a bit of hose into a catch drum, no mess, no spills, clean concrete. I do put a cable tie around it for good luck. They do slow the flow but who cares if your not in a hurry, good value piece of gear Macca

My concern would be if some idiot discovered it while the car was parked somewhere at night and drained all your oil. I guess I am paranoid and untrusting of people...but there are a lot of strange people in society.
I guess sabotage can still happen in any form.

Lets hope 7 litres of oil will make enough of a mess and stink ,for that matter, to notice. Macca 8-)

the likelihood of someone draining your oil (!).. is pretty low man.. ive never heard of that happening ever..

you're more likely to lose your wheels, aerials, spotlights, stereo than someone drain oil...

Rich, you may have OCD!? Steve9R, it is a pretty low act AND has happened!!! Right down to semi loosening wheel nuts . . . there sure are some sickos out there.

Great idea with the quick oil drain valve though, but I'll stick to changing the oil the usual way, too many concerns with 'what ifs'.

Cheers

Yeah, I may have OCD. I check the bolt about 3 times to make sure it is tight enough, (but not too tight) every time I change the Oil.
I just prefer to know there is a bolt hold the oil in there!
There are some sicko's out there, I could tell you some stories, but I won't cause I can't type very fast!
I'm off to the CREB track in 5 days time....yah

Hi Homer,

Great part! The ref # F-103N, is it for petrol or diesel, or is it the same for both fuels?
