How much for service?

60,000km Service. Free. Finally got something out of the dealer for all the custom I send him (Work buys thier cars from him now.).

While there i got 2 oil filters and 3x 5l engine oil (Deisel) so I can do the 5000km service at home (all Genuine Toyota). Cost me $110 inc GST for the lot. Not to bad.

How much for service?

Postby broke on Sun, 22 Jun 2008 3:51 +0000

Just did my 40K service.

$430 (GST inc) for the lot. Had to wash out the inside of my rear rims (as they were full of dried mud...lol) and also got a new fuel filter thrown in. So I guess you could call it $400 even for the actual service.

Question- If 90% of my driving is easy highway work then do I really need to change my oil every 5k km's? Happy to look after my car but don't want to pay up when I really don't have to.

Got the recall work done as well. Even extended the relay wiring for me so I can still install the 2nd battery with no issues.

Cheers, Broke

I had my 20K done last week at Maitland Toyota and it cost me $208. I thought that was a bit expensive.

broke/daniel,
5000 is only a personal thing mate.
the toyota manual says 10thous.
the quality of oils today and the fact that these new motors dont gunge up ur oil as quick 10 is probably fine .
after all toyota warrant there motors on the 10 thous principal.
i've gone to 5 on mine purely because i drive the ring outta it

Yeah that's what I thought- good onya Ken!

I'll stick to my 10k km services but do the 5k oil/ filter change if I have been giving it a bit of stick like a good off road trip or sand/ water etc.

How much for service?

G'Day,

I wouldn't complain to much as I found a thread on 4WD Action forum that talks about the cost for services on a Ford Ranger, have a look at this link http://www.4wdmonthly.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=52649

Below was copied out of the thread for Servicing cost of a Ranger by Ford.

KM's Cost
10000 $ 280.00
20000 $ 745.00
30000 $ 375.00
40000 $ 595.00
50000 $ 285.00
60000 $ 725.00
70000 $ 285.00

Was advised that the high cost on the 20, 40 & 60k KM interval was for the tappet adjustment.

Premier,
Just be wise to this offer if you don't do many Kms. We have a Corolla with this and found that if you exceed the Km buy more than 1500Km or are out side the 6 month service interval Toyota delete that service and you have to pay full price.

We got caught as we got it serviced at 5000km then when we had the 10000km service we were over the 6 months and they wanted to charge us full $. All because they did not register the 5000km service with Toyota. Toyota pay the dealer the difference between the subsidised price and normal cost.

How much for service?

Had My 40000k service today. Was $485. They adjusted the tappets (engine is a little quieter). Replaced the brake fluid the brakes fell a little better and also adjusted the handbrake, greased the OME shackles. Also had a wheel alignment and balance. Thought is was reasonable. Car feels and sounds better. Took it in dirty as well they gave it a wash for me as well.
Spoke to the service manager and asked him if it was OK to change the oil (myself, not a lienced mechanic) at 5k intervals between servicing without affecting he warranty. He said it was ok and recommends doing it.
Not sure if I have been told a porky, otherwise will start to do it myself. Was told by someone else that you have to be a licenced mechanic to change oil and filters during the warranty period to keep the warranty. Can anybody clarify this for me. It would be great as the excavator runs the same oil as the D4d.
Cheers

Here is a copy of the costing for my Hilux, V6 petrol.I am happy with what they did and service i received ,the car feels better after it. Brakes alot better so far no Klunking , If you take out the air filter and sparkplugs it would have been cheaper. They charge for windscreen wiper fluid which i thought wierd as in the door of my car is a BArs bug bottle :-)

How much for service?

skog,
i am of the understanding that to keep your warranty you need to to have the book stamped at the intervals by a licenced mechanic. they also must use genuine parts. so therefore you dont need to go to toyota to get your car serviced.
so if you got your car serviced at toyota every 10000 kms, do as stoney said and change the oil every 5000 and just use genuine filter and you should be sweet.
that is just my understanding of it and i am happy to be proven wrong or corrected if need be...

I don't think it is even necessary to do the filter at the 5,000 km intervals, just the oil I think would be enough. What do you other guys do?

It seems the petrol Hilux's cost more to service than the diesel, looking at that 40,000 km service on the petrol engine.

Rich,
Why would you change $40 worth of oil and not protect it with a $16 filter at 5k intervals. It seems logical to do both at that cost.
My opinion is both or nothing.

I was always tought that you change the oil every 5,000km and the filter/oil every 10,000km. But I always change the filter as well. As Camwill said. It doesn't hurt and I really love my cars 8-)

I only do 10k oil changes can`t see the point in wasting good beer money. If it required more toyo would spec 5k servicing.

I agree Stu

Like Oldrev pointed out the other night- The warranty requires u to do a oil change every 10k km's. This would be taking into consideration the knuckleheads that cane their lux's and still expect to be covered under warrabty!

I would be more conservative than many with my car and therefore reckon every 10k km is good enough for me.

The only reason I don't do the filter every 5K along with the oil is because I don't have a filter removing tool.....or actually know how to do it...

Is it just a matter of unscrewing the old one and screwing on the new filter while you are doing the oil change?
