How much for service?

Postby Cranker on Thu, 29 Mar 2007 4:12 +0000

I've just clocked up 10 000 k's in my D4D and Toyota has quoted $169 for my service.

Got me thinking about how much u guys are getting charged for your services around Australia?

Post up your cost for your service and also add if you got anything out of ordinary done.

First service 5,000km - Free

Second service 10,000km - $150 (for a Toyota call-out service van)

Third service 20,000km - $160 (for the call-out van)

Fourth service 30,000kms - $200 (Respected family mechanic including air filter) - Toyota wanted $400 for this service.

Fifth service 40,000kms - unsure yet but more than $200 through a good family mechanic.

I hate servicing costs :o

How much for service?

Postby TOMUCH on Thu, 29 Mar 2007 9:56 +0000

I just had the 20 000km service done a month ago... Toyota charged me $355, but that included the Left Hand Cup holder at $148.50 and $26.50 for rear diff oil..(water contamination before I extended my breather) So that makes the actual service about $180.00 Everything costs more in the top end... What gets me is the price I get charged for the engine oil... $71.00 it must be bloody good oil... Willhave to investigate... I have been geting a service done every 5000kms due to the roads and terrain I drive, but I think I will be doing the small sevices myself. After all ...I am a mechanic....and they only change the oil and filter on the 5000k services.... Cheers TOMUCH

Postby Tonym on Thu, 29 Mar 2007 6:47 +0000

why dont you take your own oil when you get the service done? I got quoted $99 for oil in a Turbo Territory so I bought the same Shell oil that the dealer uses at Autobahn for $27 and took it in and told them to use it. I alwys change the filter with the oil. Cant see the point in not putting a clean filter with clean oil for the sake of $10 filter

5000km Service; $124.78 Oil change only no filter. Oil cost $47.18 the rest was labour. Why they did not change the $16 filter I do not know.

10 000km Service; $245.25 with a wheel alignment, rotate and balance. Oil cost $59.00, Balance $27.50, Wheel alignment $52.25.

Shop supplies cost $13.75 ??????????

Shouldn't all Toyota dealers charge the same for a = Service where ever you go.

50 000km service at Stewart Toyota Sutherland $205.00. They tell me I need new front pads as well, but at $70 for labour to fit them i think i'll do them myself.

my 10,000,20,000 and 30,000 only ever cost me around $90.00- $110.00 by a local mechanic . Does a great job to. Never seems to miss a thing but I am moving away in a few months and dont think I will be that lucky again. Had my last 2 utes serviced by the same guy and never had a problem. I no it sound to cheap but he is always on the ball.

How much for service?

Postby broke on Wed, 30 May 2007 7:20 +0000

Got a quote today from Toyota in Toowoomba for my 10k service--$170...approx 2 hrs to do

That's with a tyre rotate/alignment and balance.

Then rang Toyota in Oakey and they wanted to sting me $175 and an extra $30 to do the tyre stuff....as it would take extra time on top of their 2 hr service.

These guys are only 35 km apart and there is more than a 10% difference in price.

Interesting isn't it?

Cheers, Daniel
