Hi all,
Just got a quote for a 120k service and to fix a leak in the auto tranny pan $1000 in Bundy and $700 in Gatton. Why is there such a difference in price for the same work.

Bundy, $630 service
$370 pan gasket (their is no gasket as it is just a sealant seal)

Gatton, $500 service
$200 pan gasket

wtf

From what i remember the sales man told me i'll be playin $180 for every service for the whole 3 yrs that the car is only warranty. Apparantly the government made a deal with this toyota dealer. This was a company purchase through terry shields parramata. Im only on 5000km atm ;)

Drew, do a search, the wiper blades are different left to rght, and by most account the genuine ones are the best to use

I heard it first here!

Bought some silicone slot in ones from SCA the other, slot em in, trim them and away you go.
Not the whole arms, just the blades.
Cost me a princely $11 and 5 mins to fit.
They work a treat. Best blades I've had.
Dealers are robbers.
Had my holden ute serviced to sell the other day.
There was a small line down the bottom of the invoice 'quoted $400', and yep you guessed it, came to 399.
Some strange items on there like extra check of the front wheels even though it is listed in the general service list, along with things that are on the list that they don't actually do, like rotate the wheels.
Don't trust the bastards one bit.
Robbers.

Just had 150k tick over on my 'lux and surprisingly to me the T-Belt light came on. Got quoted $94.50 for a timing belt and a 150k service including belt change is $450. I'm assuming therefore that it's a 4-5 hour job?

The timing belt indicator is supposed to come on at 150,000 kms.

Yep, thanks Brendon. :)
I realise that now, but I'm used to petrols and mistakenly thought they get changed every 100kkm.

15,000k service to change oil, replace filter and check over before I head to the cape - $161. Toyota ring to advise crack in RH side outer CV boot quoted - $380 for cv kit. Said i dont think so will have a look first and let them know. Not covered by warranty or my extended because of after market suspension (no suprise here, rediculous).

Rang up me mate from TJM who fitted the 2" lift - (billys and king springs) put it over the pit and looks like i was unlucky to hit a stick or stone which put a small hole in the boot, must have been a decent wack.

Will post a picture later.

Went to my mechanic who has done my other cars for years who had a quick look also and quoted about $60 for an aftermarket boot (right side only) plus about an hour to fit.

I also heard today something funny from TJM who had a customer which Toyota refused to replace a clutch under warranty because he fitted an after market bullcar to his car.. Must have been made of lead or something :D .

Plucker, make sure your mechanic is using an OEM style boot and not a split type, with the split type you don't have to disassemble the hub.

I would also recommend the CV be pulled apart, cleaned and regreased if the boot has a split...you don't know how much dirt and water has got in.....might be cheap insurance.

Yes this is true I think they also glue the boot so it wont move out of place.

Jut got 80k done $740 od

I went to repco and bought the cabin air filter also price has gone up from $22 when we first found it fit to $37 now .

I am also sooo over dealers. Just about to go on a big trip so got them to do a balance and rotate.

I pickup the car new weights on the front but it was still the same frigen tyres. Hey are only 10k new and the rears are flat across the board and the (still on the front) tyres have chambers on both Sides.
Rear bolts not touched. Front Have.
been off tho.

Told them the recall will be the last time they see the car after the last two visits an stuff ups I cant trust there work.

Gonna buy 2 desert 2 tonne jacks when I get back and do it myself.

In vic all hilux's sold in 2009 come with a factory service package (at no extra cost) $150 per service to 60k
but i neg a better deal with my local dealer $150 per service to 100k if done ever 5k
farting is alot like jxxxxxg off. both provide instant gratification, but neither is a long term solution to the actual problem......................

Had my 15k service done on '09 SR5 DC 4x4. Cost was $170.They changed oil and oil filter and did a heap of "checks".

I was told that my K&N air filter will void my warranty????

Also was informed that my front 2 tyres need replacement even though they're less then 1500ks old????

Do they even check these things properly or what?

Quoted $550 from wollongong toyota for 80k service on a 09 dual cab manual d4d first service since owning the car, really not cool having anyone touch my ute don't trust dealers or there apprentices. what to do? I can do every task of the service myself, I'm a lic mechanic just not working in the trade right now but dealer recons must be done by a workshop...... they think we are all fools.
