Steering wheel wobble

Hey all,

Had some serious steering wheel wobble later so I went and had a balance and alignment done. It helped a little bit but still getting free decent vibrations through the wheel and footwell.

My tyres are about 70k old and it only happens around 100km P/h.

Any ideas what the problem could be? Bearings? Suspension components? None of it has been changed on the truck and it's 9 years old and 150,000kms.

Thanks.

Mine started doing the same. I think it is just the tyres getting on. I had all the front end checked out and tailshaft as well, tyres re-balanced etc and it made a difference but still some minor shakes around 100. Tyre place told me it is typical of AT tyres getting over 50-60k and not being rotated, air pressure always perfect etc. Mine are Toyo AT2.

Glad it's not just me. Might be in for a new set sooner than I thought. They are pretty chewed up so probably not a bad idea.

I had my tailshaft replaced before the cape this year too.

What year is yours HK?

Guys, the brake disks are notoriously to blame for this on early lux's as they age

Never heard it, but I don't do a ton of research so it could be my problem. How can I check to see if this it?

I don't want to go replacing everything if it doesn't need it. The lux is coming up to 150k which requires a few big maintenance jobs so the coin is a bit tight.

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated [emoji4]

150k would probably be up for brakes anyway so check out non OEM disks and pads, can't hurt to upgrade the disks.

Thanks mate I'll have a look at spares box and see what price I can get. Big chunk of cash all at the same time but better to be safe than sorry.

Appreciate all the replies
