How to manually clear the check engine light.

Postby Cameron12 on Wed, 30 Jan 2019 3:09 +0000

HI guys,

I have a 2007 Hilux with the check engine light (self induced). I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to clear it or if it is possible WITHOUT a scan tool or disconnecting the battery?

A method similar to clearing the ABS light (mashing the brake pedal when pins 4 and 13 of the OD2 port is shorted).

The rest of the utes specs are 3.0L turbo diesel, manual, sr5, NZ version.

Cheers in advance, Cam

Why can't you just disconnect the battery?

Short answer there is no reason.

Reprogramming the radio isn’t much of a chore but would rather not do it if it was possible.

Was just wondering if there was a way without having to disconnect the battery.

Get an obd scanner, they aren't expensive. The Bluetooth one is sub$20 and will clear codes.
