gearbox oil change 40k km

Postby leghorn on Thu, 20 Sep 2018 11:53 +0000

After doing my own major service i noted that the gearbox oil was much more deteriorated than the diffs and transfer oils.
I highly recommend that the gearbox oil should be changed "at least every 25,000 kilometers(or every 3rd service)" not the every 40,000kms recommendation from in the toyota owners manual etc.
im a hilux add some diesel anytime now. . . .

I just had my 60K service today and was asked if i do any serious off roading (which i dont) as my gbox oil was so black it was irresponsible of them if they didnt change it. So out of good will gesture they did it under the capped price service and didnt charge me. But i believe it needs a more frequent change than every 40k as well.
