Maintenance Schedule / Warranty

Postby islandflyer on Tue, 26 Aug 2014 10:11 +0000

Purchased a '13 Hilux today and the dealer said 1st month service, then every 3 months after that or else it voids the three year warranty.

Seemed odd.

I checked the manual tonight and it says to replace oil every 12 months or 10,000 km. Shouldn't this be the services that would keep the warranty valid?

Seems odd, check with the dealer. Here in OZ it is 6 months/10k servicing ;)
Cheers Gipsy :D although I'm sure somebody will challenge that  even Einstein wasn't certain of his theories.

One thing I have learnt recently is that every Toyota dealer will give you a different answer to the same question. And if you ask Toyota Australia customer care, they will cop out and tell you to ask a dealer and not make any effort to answer your question.

standard warranty servicing is 6 months or 10k. the capped price service schedule is also 6 months or 10k. some of these manuals are written for the u.s. market where they have different requirements. here in oz it's 6/10k. what you do after warranty is up to you, but remember you have an egr system and apart from an oil catch can, your best friend is fresh oil which will feed less gunk through your intercooler and inlet manifold. many diesel owners now change oil every 5 k and filter every 10 to keep clean oil in the engine and help prevent problems further down the track.
cheers.

Thanks! Dont think I have an intercooler on the engine. Will be following up with the dealer today as I think its quite ridiculous.

if it's a petrol you won't. sorry you didn't specify which, but I believe the petrol is the same interval. in my service book it gives service details for both engines.
cheers.
