Ali at powerstroke in hobart, the best imo.

Sorry for bumping an old thread but this was the only one I could find in a search, if there's a newer one I apologise. I'm also trying to find a decent diesel mechanic in the Hobart area. If anybody has any suggestions they would be very much appreciated. Otherwise I might have to go with this 3 year old recommendation and give Ali a crack haha.

Thanks all

They aren't a diesel only specialist (or the cheapest); but if you want a thorough assessment I can recommend AutoCraft in Collins Street, up near Molle Street. I have used them for my cars in the past and have always been very happy.

For anybody else who might be looking one day, I ended up going with Powerstroke in Moonah and couldn't be happier with the experience. Very honest and straight forward, no dicking about. Called me a few times throughout the service to run things by me and keep me updated with time. Most comforting was their "company car" is the same model Hilux as mine (2010 SR) which is the main mechanics daily vehicle. So not only does he know his way around it, he shares the appreciation haha. Highly recommend them.

Sadly though, it had been a long time since the last service (car yard bullshitted me on that which unfortunately is to be expected). No damage or anything though, which is nice.

In Lithgow I can recommend Col hatton Mechanical on the Bell's Line, he used to work for the local Toyota dealer, so he knows Toyota's very well, he doesn't take shortcuts, and he'll be straight with you regarding what's required and what alternatives there are.
