If you look around this forum for a few minutes, one topic pops up very regularly.
Shitty Mechanics
I thought it might be a good idea to start a list of GOOD mechanics. This way, some members might avoid heartache by letting a wanker loose with their pride and joy.

I'll start the list by saying
Huebner Toyota - Beaudesert QLD
Only problem was that their receptionist got a speeding ticket in my 'Lux taking it to the smash repairer. But Mr Huebner was even more pissed off about that than I was.

ARB Artarmon, good service. Back there products 100%, and try to fix all the aftermarket warranty issues that have come up on the D4D. The car has not been to Toyota since its 10000k service.
Also got a hat and shirt that I have framed on the wall.

Black Toyota in Dalby were very helpful when I experienced some fuse issues on the way out to Carnarvon Gorge. They got me straight in before they had officially opened for the day, fixed it and sent me on my way at no charge.

Hey this is a great post guys but I'm looking for someone in Gold Coast/Brisbane area?! Diego was kind enough to recommend Fourby's in Mooroka (and mentioned a few other members of this site were happy with their service too) but is there anyone else in the area?

I'd really like to find someone who as Shrek put it so well I wont be "letting a wanker loose with my pride and joy"!!

Absolute Automotive Solutions Ph: 3209 4711 (Randall St Slacks Creek)

The owner (Michael) owns a 2009 Hi-lux & was an assistant Service Manager for a large Toyota dealership in Brisbane, prior to going out on his own.
I'm not going back to a dealership again...except for any warranty claims.

Windsor Toyota (Windsor NSW) abolsutley f$@#&% up a basic Toyota safety recall job leaving me with a $200.00 repair bill I got corrected at Macquarie 4x4. If I didn't find their f$@#&% up, I could have been stranded in the middle of nowhere.
Put a claim in with the shit house Toyota Australia people who did f$@#&% all to help me recover my costs, WIndsor Toyota wouldn't pay a cent.

Terry Shields Toyota Parramatta - few years back damaged a front guard, Safari snorkel and rim when they were replacing the radio antenna under warranty on my Prado. The repair bill was little over $1500.00.
At least in this instance the dealer principle had the decency to come to my house to inspect the damage after I declined the 65km round trip to take the car back to them.
He agreed to pay the repair bill and said to me "Stuff Happens", I said to him, "what your mechanic just mysteriously had amnesia after he f$@#&% the Safari Snorkel and keyed the front guard OR was it he didn't give a f$@#&%?"
99% of mechanics won't do a repair job as good as yourself, cause they don't care like yourself.
I try to do as much work on my owns cars as physically possible now.

I'm also chasing a good mechanic. Anyone know one in Ipswich? I don't really trust the one i am going to at the moment. I asked him to change the fuel filter and put a secondary filter on and he said no the hilux's dont need them. (Meanwhile me on the end of the phone being like wt* thats not what everyone else says). Needless to say the following week i had the warning light come on and filter needed changing...so i don't think he really cares.

Probably not diesel mechanics but I just had a rear main seal replaced on an 02 ford falcon futura.
Quotes:
Dennis Wilkins mechanics burleigh- $1000
Midas mechanics mermaid beach- $ 450
Got it done 5 mins from my place at mudgeeraba brake tyre brake and mechanical for $250, good honest mechanics are hard to find.
Even though it's only a single garage, 1 hoist and two mechanics, the price difference was rediculous.
It definitely pays to shop around.

If your in Brisbane, TALKTHEROO, ( forum member ), Hilux / Prado specialist.
He as tonnes of experience & knowledge on these vehicles.
Very fussy & keep it clean work, not cheap, but you get what u pay for, (reasonable for care& time taken)
I have seen his work & I couldn't find anyone who is more pedantic about his work.

Plenty of great advise for free if you use John.

If in the newcastle area I can highly recommend adamstown car doctors on the top of the hill up from Westfield kotara
My original mechanic before the Hilux, then I got roped into thinking the benefits of Toyota genuine servicing would be a good thing to follow as it was my first new car. Although I Never had dramas with Cardiff Toyota, I didn't appreciate being told it would cost $78 for a air con filter and $35 for new wiper blades at my last service with free installation. it cost me $60 for a genuine filter from the spare parts department next door to the service desk and 2 mins of my time and $13 for better quality blades from supercheap and another 2mins of my time. The best bit was being scoffed at when I said no thanks I'll do it myself

I recently had a RWC done and they fitted up my new Ultimate rear leafs, Bilsteins and extended brake lines. I found Matt and the guys very friendly, professional and super quick. Contacted me half an hour before the car was ready so I could drop in right on the agreed time to collect. Never had that before - wow!

Ken Mills Toyota also did an 18 month warranty service and their customer service was good and service manager/staff very knowledgeable/helpful.

Cheers Noel/MONGO.
