Western Oil??

Postby crintonn on Sat, 09 Mar 2013 9:09 +0000

Was looking at getting my 40000km service at the local mechanic and I asked what oil he would be putting in my d4d.
He said Western Oil semi synthetic.
Had a quick look at their site however I was wondering if anyone had used their oil before?

The mechanic insists that it's good stuff but its just I'm not sure how it compares to the bigger brands like castrol/Penrite etc.
I have been reading the other threads on oils but was just interested if anyone had any knowledge or experiences with this oil.

Cheers
Clint

LOL Yep ...Stuff letting the mechanic putting that oil in.
It may be good oil, but I don't like the idea of putting an oil in that nobody has used/heard of :?
Anyhow I've decided to go with Penrite HPR 5 Diesel - 5W40 semi synthetic.

I have read a lot of positive reports on it and I like the fact that they say CI-4 oils like this, are especially effective with EGR engines.

Its hard with so many good oils like Mobil Delvac, Caltex Delo 400 , Castrol Magnatec and GTX.

I just had to pick one and with the Penrite on sale at Autobarn at the mo makes it more enticing again :D

Anyhow thanks for the views guys. The other oil threads have been a good read too.

Cheers

Nah not Gulf Western.
I asked that question too. Its just Western Oil.
They have their own website "http://westernoil.com.au/".

I had a read but still think going a bigger brand name sounds safer.
