Warped Brake Rotors

Postby aandy on Thu, 07 Feb 2013 2:43 +0000

Hi All

My front brakes are shuddering, worse when hot.
My question is should I machine the discs or replace them, they do not shudder much at all when cold so if I machine them when cold I think I may still get a shudder when hot? anyone with experience on this?

I had a Jeep previously and went through a similar exercise, although they did not change with temperature, I machined them and it fixed the problem for a week or two, re machined, good for another week or two then replaced them and never felt the shudder again.

Lack of engine braking due to the lack of low 1st in my Auto has caused this, so many times I have seen the steam and wondered how long until they warp, those bloody rivers are always at the bottom of the hills!

hey mate,

I had a warped front rotor in my old landcruiser and took it to a mate to machine but he said basically as you explained its only a temporary fix for most and to just go new if i could afford them rather than rooting around over and over and getting know where.

In my opinion if you can afford them just go new then you know you wont be pulling it all apart again in a few weeks for the same problem..

Cheers Ryan
Cheers Cooper.

Same, temporary fix as they just warped again . Better to start again with decent rotors
On the internet you can be anything you want. It is strange that so many people choose to be stupid!
