petrol (2TR-FE) fuel filter replacement

Postby david081982 on Sat, 22 Sep 2012 11:20 +0000

Hi guys,
Following the FSM instructions to undertake a 80K service myself. Looking for any hints/tips/advice on discharging the fuel system pressure. The FSM states to disconnect the fuel pump connector but this is easier said than done when the connector is out of sight above the fuel tank. I can feel what i think is one tab on the connector but I'm not sure whether it pushes to release the plug or whether i need to pull it out to detach. Tried to take a photo but unsuccessful.
Is there an easy way to get to it? Can i loosen the tank straps a bit to drop it down? Or, is there an easier way to discharge the pressure?

Cheers,
Dave

hey,
remove the fuel pump relay or fuse and try to start the vehicle let it turn over say 5 times, pressure will be released. then you will be right. :)

ok cool, thanks for that. That's the 'integration relay' situated behind just behind the battery, correct?

Do you know how much oil the engine takes with a filter?
It's roughly 6L isn't it?

Hey scherffy, there doesn't seem to be an individual fuel pump relay, should out be the big integration relay?
