Suck out the master cylinder container fluid. refill with fresh fluid then bleed at all wheels and clutch as it is from the same fluid.

Have fun.

If you have a compressor that makes up to 110 -120lbs buy one of those compressed air brake bleeders makes the job a lot easier and you don't have to bleed the brakes afterwards, just suck the fluid through at each wheel until new fluid appears nip up the nipple , top up master cyclinder and the jobs is done.

I use Valvoline super diesel 15-40 every 5000k in mine and change the filter, I use a genuine Toyota filter

Is there a way to stop oil running everywhere when I put it on ramps I empty the oil out of the sump which is easy the issue is when the filter is changed Being upside down its difficult not to spill oil everywhere. Any clues would be helpful.

Fumoto valve with a hose extension. I also have a long sharp punch and stake the top of the oil filter to allow air into it so it drains properly into the sump and reduce the mess when you unscrew the filter.

What size of valve etc do you need for the D4D engine. I'm keen to get one.

It's not a plug, there's a drain hole in the tray under the filter. If you stab a hole in the top of the filter before you drain the oil it'll drain out pretty well with the oil. Give it half an hour and you'll find it'll be pretty well mess free.

you are best of draining the oil while hot also, just take care not to burn yourself

I don't know if in Oz you get this brand, bardahl ( maybe mistyped there), they have this HDD oil, 15w40, really great results (considering I run a 206000 km D4D engine). apart from that...go with Hilux Max, list...covers pretty much everything.

If you need the filter tool and cant get a filter strap on it toyota filter tool part number is # 09228-07501, i recommend using it, its easier than a filter strap

Checked mine every 10k. One easy method- once oil has drained, take a peek at inside of the drain hole to have a glimpse of the pickup filter
