I was told by my dealer, and several of my 4WD mates who have been doing it for years, for the first 1000km abuse the living bejezus out of it, rev it right out, hard launches, drive it as hard for the first 1000km as you can. After that drive it normally. It will bed everything into place, and then it will repsond to whatever you want.

A mate and his father bought two Hilux's at the same time. The son drove it like he stole it, and his father drove like his like a grandfather. The son's car will now drive smoother, and give more power when needed unlike his father's car.

I done the same thing to my 03/12 build SR5, it now has 10000km on it, and it gives me the power when I need it.

All three Hilux's referred to in this post are Diesel's

need a lot of downchange induced engine breaking to seal the piston rings. no "gas", let the car momentum to rev up the engine. do it only when engine is warm and watch out for rev limit too.

Can't comment on trailer, err on the safe side by not towing one.
