Jacking points

I just jacked up the front of my Hilux with a hydraulic scales on my trolly jack. I used the center of the cross member that runs behind the front diff, this is where a sites on the net said to lift a Surf which is similar to the Hilux??.
The cross member has a circle bit with a hole in the center, so I thought all would be OK. The top of the scales has a nice circular section about 50mm dia so fitted perfectly against the circle in the cross member. The only problem it bent in the cross member. I noticed that the bottom section of the cross member is not welded all the way across so making the center section where the circle is weaker. It buckled a bit where it was not welded, I just put a vice onto it and it straightened up the buckled bit OK but the circle bit is still pushed in. I don't think the actual cross member bent at all. Does anyone know where you are supposed to jack up the front with a trolley jack?

I was using the scales to see if I would be overloaded for a trip I am going on. Found out one thing I have been overloaded on quite a few trips in the past.

If you need a new Crossmember i have one in Brisbane if you are nearby. As For jacking i go next to the leaf hanger at the rear and near the bodymount behind the front tyre when jacking.

Thanks for the offer. I don't think it is damaged enough to need replacement, I am about to head off for 2 weeks camping in Tasmania. When I get back I might make up a jig and straighten it.

I need to jack all 4 wheels off the ground soon to do a tyre rotation and don't want to do the same thing where should I be jacking from both front and rear to place my stands in the spots Toyota say to use if you get a puncture.

Yea I use the cross-member point too but its been used so much that its bent upwards so in the future im just going to put a piece of hardwood along the length of it and jack under that to distribute the load width.

Jacking points are in your manual....

Only the four corners are so if you want the entire car off the ground there it's nothing in the manual for that.

I jack under the front xmember with a trolley jack place axel stands under the chassis behind the front wheels by the body mount.
the back I jack under the diff centre and place stands under the axel tubes

Cross member is still OK, has not deteriorated at all.

I had the same issue on a 2010 so I rang Toyota. He said the only safe places to jack it up is on the chassis and rear diff/axle. Remember a lot of our hilux's aren't standard weight either so there is a lot more stress on that front cross member.
