Engine Warning Light

Postby Krat on Thu, 19 Aug 2010 12:31 +0000

Hi all,
I am an avid reader of the topics in the Hilux forums and I think that it has brought me unstuck.
I read the topic on cleaning the Mass Air Flow Sensor so thought I would give it a go. Located the sensor, pulled it out but couldn't get the cleaner at the local auto shop so I replaced it without issue. What I did forget to do was replace the wire connector to the unit for a few days, but what the heck, i hadn't used the ute anyway.
When I did start it up the engine warning light came on and stayed on.
I hope there is a simple fix to this problem.
Can someone please help.
Regards, Kev ( I must stop fiddling with these things)

Has it reset itself yet... A lot of the time you can trigger the light and it will remain on for a few days then it clears itself. The fault is still logged in the ECU untill cleared but the light will not annoy you :)

No Biggy either way... Or Toyo or your mechanic can reset it....

Disconnect the battery for about a minute.
This used to reset a code that came up on my Prado.

yeah as mentioned above.. the code will remain in your ECU until its cleared.. Toyota can do it (normally charge to do it). or if youve got a smart gauge / scan gauge etc you can reset the codes yourself..

Thanks for the help guys. The light stayed on for the first trip and then when restarting the engine for the return journey all was back to normal with the warning light off.
You are a wealth of information.
Regards, Kev.
