My 2nd grinds too. Toyota replaced the gear, sleeve, synchro, and gear stick. no if's or but's. Apparently the stick is a common problem an they have an up graded version. Really nice to drive now!!

Hope this helps, Peter

Ok so I checked and found out that my 05 lux is affected too but I got under it today to see anything of what they are saying but to no avail. Now I haven't driven on much heavily corrugated roads since I have had it but I can assume with all the people on his forum that there is people who have driven on roads like this quite alot. Now my question is why haven't we heard about this so called issue before? 5yrs and only 19 reported incidents :?: . I would have thought with some of the places some of you guys take our trucks too would be far more concerning than some corrugated roads. Now I admit that some of the roads we have in Oz are pretty bad at times but I have seen some of the places where some of you guys actually manage to take your cars. Now that is scary.
That is my two cents worth.

I crawled under my '05 today and everything's fine in the centre bearing and support bracket department and my car has done 150000k, much of it over rough roads and tracks.
Might wait and see how the repairs go before I let Toyota touch it...."if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Took mine in today for it's 100k service. There was no mention of this at all. I'm affected.
I'll be sure to mention this when I take it back to visit the "diagnostic technician" next week. I have whine in either the output shaft of the gearbox, or the diff at about 1500rpm..... the clowns told me that it was tyre noise....... morons.... belco toyota is rapidly becoming more like it's sister dealerships

I think the vin number is down on your chassis in front of your drivers side front wheel, easy to see if its clean.

Well guys finally happy to join the recall club on account of my truck missing out on the bonnet catch treatment to my delight!

I wonder if they decide my truck falls in the extreme category when they see it?

Your vin should be in the left hand passanger on the shiny little plate
