Clinton's Camden cancelled me too ( yesterday ) saying more or less the same thing,"sorry mate, the parts are on the ship at the docks,we"ll have 'em next week.....blah blah...." sounded like dealer bull&%@* ! Oh and when I made the booking last week, they visably wilted when I said I had a long range tank fitted and asked if I could bring it in near empty.Oh well, only 4000k home ( NT )....get it done then I suppose

Got my ute done after a delayed drama due to the longranger... They had to place a aluminum bracket to drop the tank 1" pics to come.
Also got my clock spring done on wednesday for free (ute out to warranty) :)

Very strange it's been months now since the recall and I have not heard anything from toyota ...., not that I want them playing with the lux I would rather get something fabricated elsewhere ... Just seems strange that they have not been in contact if it's such an issue!

I rang my local dealer today to book in for the recall and was told it will be 9 to 12 months before they can do it as they have over 600 bookings and only do 2 a day. I am getting rid of the truck in January so I will just pass the recall letter on with the truck.

Dont worry they balanced my fronts, put them back on the front, didn't touch the backs at all and still charged me for it, told em to get !@#@#< and rotated them myself.

This service/recall was the last the dealer will see the car, over the mistakes and shonkey work.

Came across this today. Not sure if it is to do with the recall or just bad luck.

Driver was heading down Victoria Rd this afternoon.

Thank fully no one was hurt

After having a chat with the driver the ute does 3-4 country trips a year. After re reading a little more in to the recall its not where the problem is but a problem all the same.

Hmm.. thats not good either.. it sort of is where the recall is though.. the loop recall would have prevented the tailshaft from dropping to the ground..

but it looks more like the retaining bolts have sheared off..

and i very much doubt that truck has ever been off road, or done any serious corrugations....

to me that looks more like those retaining bolts were'nt tensioned correctly and have worked loose allowing even more movement in the tail shaft (as we know it can move up to 2" is all directions), causing premature failure..

its always worth checking all your bolts when you do you service..

Doesn't the recall only involve 4wd's?

Just had mine done at Kalgoorlie Toyota. Booked it in about 2months ago. Went like clock work. I have a long range tank (brand unknown as put on by previous owner) which was not affected by the hoop install. I only found out about the recall through this site and the general media. That's my 10c on the topic

I got mine done end of last year. Booked it in for a service and they said they would do the recall if they had time. I came back at 3pm and they said they were just about finished it all. Waited around for another 20mins and it was all done. Service and recall done!! They welded on the brace for mine.
Cheers,
Shanno

Hey guys I booked mine in for 20 000km service and had just received the recall notice. They said would try and get it done but had a few other Hiluxes to do. Got it back in the arvo all sweet. Thay had a cancellation. Think they welded a new brace same as Shanno probably. Have a Long Ranger 140ltr tank and no change to that. Done 10 000km since and no probs. Toyota in Townsville did mine. ;)
