I'm up to 30k now and haven't had any slipping at all but have had the shudder in 1st when it gets loaded a bit.... recently (since fitting the wind booster) I get a short "screech/whistle" sound changing between 1st and 2nd when I give it some curry, happens once I release the clutch in 2nd and drive gets applied.. (does that make sense?) Does that sound like the clutch?

Possibly the throw out bearing- I have gone through 2 Toyota Clutches and now have a Aus Clutch Industries in, Have the same noise, 1st to 2nd but now on all gears when giving it some herbs- Booked in next week for replacement

Well, started Monday and happened again this-morning, let the clutch out in first and MASSIVE shudder, then stall. spoke to toyota and old mate said "yerp..... sounds like a bad clutch, pressure plate to me, bring it in and we'll fix it" didn't even seem to wanna argue about it, just straight up accepted it when I said "hilux, clutch, broken"

Just about to get my 2012 done as warranty. Only 26000 on the clock and very little towing. A little concerned about all the warranty denials. Any suggestions on which Sydney Toyota dealer is the most sympathetic to the situation.

Does anyone esle have this type of noise?

Hi i have a 2010 D4D with the same problem but mine will still have the noise after it runs most of the time I talked to Toyota today about it and they said its only a throw out bearing and very normal to hear these noises i told them you dont pay good money for a Toyota to have nosies like this and maybe they shoud put better parts in to stop these noises and stop thinking it normal to hear noises like that.

Has anyone had luck with Toyota replacing the throw out and thurst bearing under warrany with 3 months left on the warranty??

Mate of mine works at Toyota, spends most of the time doing warranty repairs for clutches and water pumps on the Hilux...

I have a 2013 SR5 Hilus 4WD diesel . Bought as new in Febuary and have done 27,000kms. With little warning the clutch blew up today and was towed to the dealer.

I asked what i thought would be a rhetorical question "This would be under warranty for sure". The service manager was very non commital and said he would have to have a look and see if there was an oil leak etc. blah , blah. you tow a trailer around yarda , yarda it not might not be under warranty . New one could cost 3k. i was gob smacked. So much for un-breakable

Hoping i won't have to fight this but some of the stuff i have rear recently on the net makes me think i may have to.Really hope it doesnt come to that.Surely this should be covered.

They wouldn't cover my clutch with only 27000 Kim's.
Then tried to charge me for the labour to remove gearbox for inspection.

Now my injectors are stuffed apparently because the fuel I use (Caltex) is bad.
Screw Toyota. Will never buy another and that is my story to everyone I see.

Oh wharf a feeling.

Had the clutch start slipping in my 2012 Lux with 57k on the clock.......I do tow a camper trailer off road and a 17 foot tinny up the boat ramp but surely this does not count for abuse......usual story ...drop the gearbox out and look for signs of abuse........they found fibres in the clutch and said it had a shudder in it due to a finger being out of alignment :?: .........so replaced under warrenty. :D
Grand Motors Harbour Town came to the party after initially saying it may not be a warrenty claim....turns out I was not speaking to the Service Manager initially but one of his minions.

I had mine replaced, 2012 model, at 50000, (which took a lot of convincing!) the second one didn't even last 10000, so I took it back where they informed me that I would be up for $700 for them to pull the gear box out and take photos to be sent to toyo aus to make a call on warranty. So I politely told them to stick that, and am going to put a hd aftermarket one myself and be done with their genuine crap
