I think they might be mate. Mine's a 2010 with 180k and my horn has just gone (works on left lock though), nothing else at this stage. Going to investigate a replacement as an out of warranty repair this week.

So just entering this delema now with my KUN26 Hilux. my steering controls work which makes me suspicious that the clock spring is fine. Peter Kittle Toyota at Para Hills quoted my mechanic $1115 just for the part. This dealer I have had run ins with for substandard work and overpriced parts but my mechanic used my VIN with that dealer where I bought the car brand new to get quote.
I have seen the el cheapo part on ebay for under $50 or allfourx4 supplying for $595 genuine part kun26 with VSC.
I have checked the fuse and thats fine, took drivers seatbelt off and cleaned it as it was retracting poorly and a bit grubby, took the trim off and blew out any dust etc near retractor. Still the light is on. it has gone out twice since the light first came on but soon came back on. The light went out twice after reversing with full lock.
Any suggestions on where to look or go from here. Just a bit sussed as sterring wheel buttons all work?

Its common in this thread for the clock spring to partially go.

Shop around for a genuine part is my best advice.

cheers for that i will bite the bullet pay day and order the one from allfourx4. I did ring Toyota Australia today with a query on the price peter kittle gave the mechanic, the time my build was built shortly after Japan tsunami took out their factory and how my build was delayed as lack of parts was an issue. whos to say that old parts werent installed but they couldnt comment or know if that was the case. They then put me onto another dealer who rang but said it will take half hour or so to get back to me. As yet they havent rang back, will sit for a few days before ordering part. In these times its hard to scratch the coin to run ahead on a whim, Im sitting with toes , fingers and eyeballs crossed praying for a hey mate come on down and we will fix for free under extended warranty..... yeah i know lol pushing it .

Put you vin into partsouq.com and see what it says the price is. even with shipping, they are often much cheaper.

cheers for that tip, saves me just over $100 from using allfourx4 website and over $600 from the price going through Peter Kittle Toyota stealer.
