Mine were realy bad also, I asked toyota to check it out before they were replacing them. They managed to fix them for 2000km , then i gave up.

Now I just shove the garden hose into the brake caliper and around the pads every time i wash it. Wait till all the black dust come out, done, No more sqeeling brakes. its been good for a 6 months.

They still shudder like mad when warm and down hill. Maybe i should ask toyota now about a replacement set ;)

Yes you should. If you have vsc it is a harmonics issue not a brake dust issue.

Is there something we can quote when going to the dealership? Like a recall number or something, or issue #xxxx.

Because i can see going to the dealership and asking and just getting the stuff they spray on that last about 500k.

If the toyota dealership does not know about this by now there is something going wrong in that place. If you have no luck with the service adviser ask to speak with the dealer diagnosis master tech . That person will defiantly know of the concern.

Lippa88. Like I said before it is a harmonics problem! No amount of spray on stuff or brake pad glue will fix it.
And as stated before this only effects the vsc hiluxes.
That's vehicle stability control.

Hi ! My 2012 hilux hand brake barely lasts a month before it is loose. I do get the reverse squeal from brakes. Can some one tell me what is going on ! Where the issue is so I can talk to Toyota on my net service?

If you are loaded all the time that will use more rear brakes. There is an auto adjuster in there it will need to be nice and clean and free to work correctly. To auto adjust works by holding full brake not moving and pulling up and down on the handbrake. This causes the adjuster paw to turn the adjuster wheel. Hope this helps

Ive been waiting for mine that have been on order for nearly 5 weeks. No word. Going to try toyota again. Dealership has been really good tho!

Edit: Gave the dealer for a call. Also heard similar story.. No stock in Japan. And the has not been classed as official 'recall' as such as yet. Mid June was a rough date he gave me, but said not to quote on that.

If your parts are on order it will get done you will get new rotors and front brake pads. There is a parts supply problem. There are a lot and Mean a lot that have to be done. Just keep ringing the dealer.

i enquired about this about a 6 weeks ago, the same day the dealership called me saying they had processed my claim and that there's currently a parts shortage so there might be a delay, car was booked in for a service about 2 weeks ago, and the rotors and pads just so happen to come in that day, so they out those on at the same time. so all up i think it was a 3 and a half week wait, which i was quite satisfied with.

I have my ute going in after the weekend to get my front rotors fixed/replaced.
I have strut spacers in the front. I know they have nothing to do with the brakes but im sure they will look for any excuse to get out of a warranty claim in the future.
Do you guys think I should remove them before I take the car to the dealer?

Id take them out anyway as they are really bad way to lift the front end ! Major dramas do a search on it

my 012 has done 54000 ks and has had brake discs skimmed twice and now they have warped again, get to the bottom of a long hill trying to hold it at the speed limit and the wheel is wobbling about and front brakes almost gone, the brakes are better than previous hilux but still not flash

Once they have warped it is a waste of money skimming them as they already have a hot spot on them and it will come back

Better to put new disks on
