Hi all brand new member to this site. I have had a 99mod 3ltr for years with many mods 4" lift, 33"bfg's, 2.5 exhaust, turbo kit, bigger radiator, bars, steps, winch, lights, dual batts, lockers etc etc etc etc have not long sold it and ordered the current model. I am planning the same sort of mods on the new one including dgas. I dont want to wait unitl the warranty has expired but after reading through the warranty issues in the forum i am a little concerned. Im am just wondering how anyone has gone with warranty work when there truck has been modified.... eg if my clutch dies which seems to be common if i have diff locks and 33"rubber will they laugh at me lolThanks for your help

The best suggestion I have is talk to the dealer when you pick up the truck and ask the questions.

Yeh i will definatly be talking to the dealer about it. I was just hoping some one might have already had the experience and could give me some good news to tell the mrs lol or the bad and stop me from getting my fingers burnt lol The clutch is a worry for me with a heavy boat and lots of 4wding. I have always had hilux's while my mates all have patrols and i want to stick with them but why they dont make these with a coil rear and rear discs is beyond me.... fleet market i guess.

I just had a gearbox fixed with the mod's you speak of and did not have a problem due to the mods but we did build the the Toyota dealership and building another at he moment. To be on the safe side I removed all the photos 4wding from my profile and mod list incase as I had the newhilux sticker on the rear window.

Toyota warranty with mods is not worth anything.
As soon as a few mods (expecially with lifts and bigger tyres.)

The toyota i brought my lux from will fit most, if not all mods that you ask for.
My bose brought this sr 4x4 work utes(2 of them) and had 2" lift, arb locker's, 15" tyres with mudie(31"), quarry lights and arb steal bar.

What mods are allowed?
Can we make a list of what Toyota allows?

There is no list. Any mod gives them the opportunity to decline a warranty claim if they believe it was the cause of the problem
If you don't agree with their interpretation of what caused the fault you will need to take up the dispute with Toyota Aust with the legal system / arbitration

So a snorkel that wasn't fitted by them could cause a problem? And also a secondary diesel filter?

Would Toyota install a new exhaust when purchasing the car?

Toyota will only fit genuine accessories and use external contractors like ARB etc to fit other mods
That way they have someone else to blame if needed
IMO you are better off getting the vehicle delivered with as many mods as possible so if there is a problem it is between the dealer and their subbie without you in the middle

secondary fuel filter is fine if installed before the toyota one
3" exhaust has never been mentioned when I've had mine serviced (unlike some other mods)
my 2" lift was never mentioned either
snorkel was fitted by ARB (and I'd go back there if I had warranty issues)

while I'm not a big fan of ARB, at least they're big enough to be known and recognised by Toyota. thus you "should" have no issues

Toyota must honour any claim as long as YOU can prove the malfunction was not caused by the modifications, toyota does not have the responsibilitie to find the cause (even though most will). I had a clutch go in my 2013 lux with 10000kms it had been shuddering and carrying on since the 1000km service but toyota told me it was fine until it finally died!!!! The dealer tried shafting me out of a clutch but toyota Australia said " how can we advertise a unbreakble truck that's destroys a clutch in 10000kms" dealer changed his attitude after that! If your worried about mods then sure ask your dealer but he will just wipe his hands clean ( as most will ) I would steer clear of cheap mods!!! Most reputable company's will honour your new car warranty if their product causes damage

You mentioned dgas, how any company can recommend this for any modern diesel engine with pre injection is beyond me. Do not expect any engine warranty with this rubbish fitted.

Ask the fitter for a timing diagram, how many degrees before TDC is pre injection, main injection, when will the added gas ignite? will it raise peak combustion pressure above safe limits(?probably/maybe/who knows?)
