I am going to extend mine next year ..... I did it with my last 4x4 (a patrol dare I say) and it paid for it's self in 1 warranty job....

Hey John, get the extended warranty.. if you intend on keeping the car for longer than 3 years, its very well worth the small outlay now.. but talk to the dealer, and get them to reduce the coat a bit.. tell them your not sure, .. dont give into their pressure of signing now.. you have until you make payment on the car and pick it up.. i get 5yrs/150,00k's instead of 3yrs/100,000k's if i keep taking back to the same dealer i bought it from. I thought that was a pretty good deal. Has anyone else heard of anything like that?

Paul 2RODS, can you buy such a warranty when the new car warranty runs out? Or is it only with the origional purchase?

I have phoned my local dealer (Nowra Toyota) and I have up until my warranty runs out to purchase the extended warranty. They said they would take off $200 if I bought.
I will be taking up the offer at time of next service which would be the last prior to first warranty period running out.
Cheers

John,

What type of modifications/additions do you plan with the vehicle?

Just be careful as some might void the warranty so you my buy it for nothing!

I think the extra warranty is great... well worth the money if your truck remains pretty standard. If factored into a loan it costs you buggar all more each week for a lot of peace of mind.

I guess just check with Toyota that your planned mods will be o.k with the warranty.

I say this because I'm currently awaiting a decision from Toyota on whether to fix my clutch and slave cylinder under warranty, or deny the claim due to bits on my truck like suspension, tyres and LPG, chip etc.

Good luck with your new truck.
Cheers
Matt
