I have been informed that Toyota Australia has affectively no warranty on there new 2012 Hilux diesel engine. I can prove this as i am a victim of Toyota Australia. FAILED ENGINE. Cracked piston#3 hole in piston#4 failed turbo 49,000km 6mths old, fully serviced by Toyota.

What exactly are you saying mate, Toyota isn't accepting responsibility or the engine didn't last til the end of the warranty period?

Toyota isn't accepting responsibility and the engine didn't last the warranty period only 49,000km

I have been watching this forum for some time to see if anyone else has had the same experience we have with Toyota and here it is! CHS002 you are not alone as , besides us ,I know there are four engines in a western victorian toyota dealer's workshop sitting on the floor that have also had a major malfunction , warranty= NIL .Mine is sitting in a northern Vic dealer with its heart also out. The poor excuses from Toyota why they won't replace these engines are due to their "IN HOUSE" examination.
Our "IN HOUSE" resolution may well be notifying each of our 10 000 plus customers , via our group of companies, through our next newletter, warning the toyota owners about their potential warranty problems.
pissed off!

All products sold in Australia are covered by the sellers warranties and a statutory warranty provided by the ACCC. They can't say you have no warranty unless they can prove you have modified the engine in a way which has caused the failure. Statutory warranty states that the product must be fit for use for a reasonable amount of time. This time frame does change depending on the product, but I think a lot of people and the ACCC would agree that 6 months and 49,000km is not a reasonable amount of time for major engine failure.

A lot of times we hear stories about service managers knocking back warranties or blaming irrelevant aftermarket parts for the failure. I would take this straight to Toyota Australia and then the ACCC if needed.

I don't get " in house examination "meaning what they look at it and said not our problem the motors done 49 ,000 ks it's still well with in it's warranty period if the motor is standard why wouldn't they fix it

Agree with Brendan 100%. Unless you have done something to cause/ contribute to the failure it is on Toyota to fix it and from my dealings with warranty claims and Toyota has never been a problem.......maybe it is just the dealer saying no

What I think you need to explain here being that its a public forum is the justification that they gave you for declining the warranty claim.

There is no way they would decline the warranty if within the period of time unless they had justification and reasoning to deny it.

So I think you should fess up and explain the whole story, not just your side but also what the explanation was.
