Fellas,
Had the hilux go in for its 120,000 service. I had just done a 1500km round trip, easy highway driving. I always look over my car before and after, and this time found a leak from front seal of transfer case output shaft- so I asked Toyota to check it out.
So the service cost me $520- oil change, diff oil change, oil filter, air con filter, air filter- not cheap!!
They also pointed out the oil leak, and also the water pump was leaking. I asked about warrenty- fella said "na it ran out over 12 months ago". Was quoted just shy of $1000 for seal and water pump. $650 of that is labour!!!!!
So I asked the question again about warrenty for the water pump- my commodore did over 200,000km before new water pump. Anyway he went to head office, and they accepted my claim- parts and half labour for water pump. So my total bill now will be approx <$500.
Made my day

I had a guts full of toyota and out of warrantee claims. VERY expensive. Water pump needed by 140,000 so went to local mechanic and he did timing belt, service and water pump for $700. Much better value.

Why on earth would you go to Toyota stealership for servicing?

Other than warranty of
Course

Qwerty- warranty is why I stuck with them, but I actually didn't know mine had run out. Of course, after this week, I will be changing to another mechanic.

If you were not happy with the outcome you can ask for the dealer to appeal and try for Toyota to pay all of it
As far as replacement of warranty parts remember you only have 3 years and 100k Klm's that Is 50000 Klm's more than what was available back in the 1990's , I bet owners of a ln106 didn't bat an eye lid when they replaced a water pump at 100 k Klms whilst doing the timing belt , idler , tensioner , cam and crank seals , leaking top injector pump and servicing the injectors ( as it was common practice to do so every 100 k Klms ) funny own times change. ??? ;)
With the 120k service , valve clearance inspection should have been done as well , hence the price would be that amount due to labour content.

With an advantage service of 40000 Klm's the owner pay his $170 , the claim processed to Toyota Is over $400 so it's not to far away from what he manufacturer stipulates can be charged . Th dealer has a program called super service menus and can enter a rego or vin. No and quote a service or repair to the dollar according to toyota's flat rate repair.

Yup same thing went on my lux at 120k,well out of warranty but still asked the question and they came back with toyota will pay for half the parts and half the labour, all up it cost me $350 in total and that also inc the timing belt, no point taking it all out in 30k again to do the belt
