Bonnet Recall Issue

Postby Steve9R on Fri, 25 Jan 2008 9:59 +0000

other thing i noticed on my old mans lux after his bonnet recall was done (I still havent had mine done yet).. was he had a rubber seal that ran all the way across the front of the underside of the bonnet (called a headlamp seal i think) to prevent dust etc getting in.. they removed the seal (worth $55 to buy BTW), and threw it out..

My work lux bonnet clicks on the 1st bit/click but won't shut from there. I have to lift the bonnet up approx 15cms & let it drop to shut the sucker!! Ouch!! No more jumping up & putting pressure on it!! :(

Do others here have to do this?? Surely, I can't be that much of a piss ant to be able NOT to close it from the 1st click!! :o

YEP have to slam to shut and the bonnet protector hits the grill when shutting I hate it when other people mess around with the car.
Had the indicator recall done and they disconnected the batt and lost all my stereo blue tooth contacts and then had to pull it out because they didn't know the code and now won't play cd's so they ordered me another unit.

What year model is involved in the recall. I have not been notified (mine July 2005). What is the problem that requires fixing? Ok got my recall in the mail we 25/04/08 and have already had it fixed. Now bonnet is real heavy. They did not put on gas struts so Must push like hell to get it up.

But good job with no problems at Nowra Toyota.
Cheers Jack

Guys, I got the Lux back this afternoon, and am happy to report that there were no problems and no surprises... the struts push the bonnet up very easily, and hold it up no problems... the bonnet seal was refitted, and I was told that they took extra special care not to leave any metal filings (swarf) in the bonnet... Oh and they replaced the bonnet sound / heat shield.. .(the big black thing).. they told me it was part of the modification kit...My first happy experiance with Bridge Toyota Darwin. Here is a pic of hte finished product. Cheers TOMUCH

hey TOMUCH.. did you not have the rubber seal that ran right around the edge of the bonnet as well ? (not the small one you pointed to).. but the one that goes from one side to the other (I think thats the one Rich is talking about too)..

Apparently it has to be removed to fit the new plate rich, and they throw it out.. $52 to buy from toyota spares though..
