I had the airbag light come on last year when I was in Bundaburg. Bundaburg Toyota said it wasnt the clock spring but something else and quoted me $700 to fix. I said f#%k that and kept driving it like it was. I had mentioned I thought it was probably the clock spring and Toyota would normally cover it. Today I booked it in at Trusscotts Toyota to get injectors and air bag light checked. I was expecting the same responce from them re the air bag light but they rang me this arvo and said it was the clock spring and had already fixed it free of charge. Thats the sort of service you should expect from a stealership. I bet the halfwits at Bundaberg would have charged me the $700 and replaced the clock spring on Toyota Australia's account. Pricks!

Injectors were all within spec. 160000km. :D

Cheers,

Chris.

Ive been doing it every 20 - 30,000km. I think every service is a little over the top. The trouble is though it only takes one batch of bad fuel and your in trouble. Nearly more important than changing the filter is checking the float for the water detection is free and working. They sometimes seize up meaning if you get a load of water in it you wont know until its too late. Ill be installing a second filter soon. I also take a fuel sample when I change the filter to see what sort or crap/water its filtering out.

Cheers,

Chris.

Ok gents, my airbag light has been randomly lighting up whilst driving. It clears when I re-start the car then after a few minutes driving lights up again. I have done a fair search on here and come to this thread, Question is how have you guys best repaired it and what's it cost without having to go back to a dealer.

Warranty job, or if out of warranty (approx 7yrs or 200,000k)$80 off ebay and 20minutes of your time.

It must be a common thing,I was talking to a mate yesterday who is heavily into the Jeep seen and he was saying they have been having the same issue in Jeeps and a spring in the ignition barrels.

I had my clock spring fail a few weeks back, and took it to Sydney City Toyota, Waterloo. They were really helpful and replaced it free of charge. I did hear a little birdie say (Shhhhhh) that TA will (sorry - 'should') warrant the fix if the vehicle is less than 7 years old and has less than 200,00kms. I have a 10/06 and 175000k's. Phew!

Anyways thought Id mention it...

Monaz not really sure what you're saying here other than reiterating the same point srd4d already made? (And indeed much of the prior 108 posts)

Yes the TA "good will program" cut off is 7years or 200k. He's on 208k.

It's time to get my clock spring sorted

What exactly should I say to Toyota to ensure it gets fixed free of charge?
