every chip affects the scanguage as the ECU understands the factory fuel trims only. When you change the tune the factory ECU is still computing the fuel usage based on original figures.

They are out but usually they are out by a set amount (say 1lt per 100kms) and you can check this via the litres used Vs kms travelled.

Hope that explains it.

CHIP IT wrote:Hi Jono

if its connected correctly you should see a green light and a red light active when the chip is chipping.

On ignition you should see one LED light up. The other turns on AFTER the MAP or TPS connection wire gets a signal. ie the car is under way. If connected try getting someone to give the car a good strong flat rev and look for the other LED to light up.

You are not trying to redline the car, just load the turbo. This is done by a sharp hard punch of the throttle for .5 of a second.

If you do not see the activation led light up it is not Chipping at all. To isolate if its the Chip, run the MAP wire to the TPS as well and try the hard rev again. It should light up. If not, give us a call on 1800 784882. We will sort it out.

Alby. Thanks for your wrap. That's what people who buy the Aussie product want to see. We don't always get it right but we just need to be judged by how we handle the issue. Again, thanks for a hearty praise. Cheers

Hi Robert,

I just realised I bought this off Jono and am having the same problem. It just doesn't seem to be working, and I haven't seen the green light work. I've spoken to Rhys a few times about locating the TPS wire and he is unable to tell me what wire it is.

I have now used the multi meter and tried three different wires that are giving volt readings and but still no luck.
Do you have fitting instructions for the Hilux? and is it possible the unit could be faulty?

Oh, I forgot to mention I have an 02 1KZ-TE and the instructions were for a Prado, which seems to have a different TPS set-up.

Could be possible. You would feel if it is working. If you cannot feel it working, it ain't working.

We have many customers with that unit and they work very well. I good mate of mine has it on his car and pulls a 2.5 ton Caravan at times and other times tows a maximum sized boat. He loves it.

He says on a very hard run (when he has to get somewhere fast) it will use slightly more fuel (he expected that) but on moderate running he is in front.

The 0-5 volt reference is just to tell the chip it should switch on. As long as there is a reference (any) it will switch on. Ask in the letter to email you the instructions for the vehicle it is now fitting on.

ChipIt what tune would you recommend on a 2007 model with 3" Straight through no mufflers or cats. I'm putting an Egt gauge in to monitor the temps also. Currently on tune 5 with no problems.

if you have the fuel limiter disc installed up to tune 13 ... but don't except good fuel economy at those settings.

if you DON'T have the fuel limiter disc installed tune 10 is about max ... possibly tune 9. Try it. You cannot hurt it... you are looking for black smoke (gone too far) or if the engine check light comes on under HARD acceleration
