Steinbauer - The Facts and The Figures to Prove It!

Postby Hilux Max on Thu, 04 Jun 2009 2:56 +0000

Guys,

Firsty of all before you get excited, no, as much as I wish, I havent fitted the steinbauer to my hilux. Im posting this post on behalf of CROSSSPORT to help him out since he needed help posting pictures and the like so here is his post -

!!OK HERE WE HAVE IT!!
This is not a thread full of what gains might a certain power module provide your hilux with.
It is the hardcore proof that many have asked for and not received. Many will throw figures at you and hope you believe it in order for them to achieve a sale.
Well here is the proven results for the STEINBAUER power module fitted to a 2007 Toyota Hilux D4D automatic dual cab running 265/75/16 tyres.
This vehicle had a humex 3inch exhaust fitted prior to the module being fitted.
Here are the dyno results that were achieved from the exhaust only.

Image

As you can see the vehicle is producing 286.1NM of torque @ 88kph and 81.1KW of power @ 130kph in standard non modified form.
After 3 inch exhaust fitted the vehicle is producing 324.1NM of torque @ 88kph and 89.0KW of power @130kph
A good increase in torque of 38NM and a slight increase in power of 7.9KW , money well spent by all means.

And this is the dyno results after the steinbauer module was fitted.

Image

This dyno report shows standard non modified torque and power as previous dyno report, and the torque and power figures with the 3 inch exhaust and steinbauer module fitted.
As you can see max torque is 359.1NM @102kph and max power is 104.2KW @132kph.

So the module has added another 35NM of torque and an extra 15.2KW of power.
These figures are all rear wheel torque and power, so if you add 30% as an average for drive train loss you end up with:
Flywheel torque: 466.83NM
Flywheel power: 135.46KW
A great outcome and as far as money outlaid and the end result I would say very well worth it.

Now these figures are with the module in it's factory setting. So for those who didn't know the steinbauer module is adjustable.
So with extra time on the dyno it may be possible to improve on even these figures even further.

As far as I see it this proves who is the leader in the power module debate without a doubt.
I will happily accept that I may be wrong................If anyone can show me actual results as I have done, of any other module that is producing better results, quality and value for money.
Until such a time I'm sold on the steinbauer and 3inch exhaust combo.

Research it more here:

Or you can PM me (crosssport) if interested in finding out more.

Hope this puts a few minds at ease as to the ongoing and ongoing debate.

Oh...... I am so sad that my DPchip did not make the top dog list.............

But, she's (DPchip) been reliable.

Can't afford to get another chip again as they just cost too much..........
Cheers

Hi all

Attached is the dyno graph the previous owner gave me when he had a 3" cat back exhaust and Steinbauer put in. On a 07 Diesel.

All I know is that you can tell the difference when it is switched off.

Image

Converting from HP and ft/lbs

Max power before 94.1kw
Max power after mod 116.5kw
Increase 22.4kw

Max torque prior 447nm
Max torque after 573nm
Increase 126nm

I don't understand the big numbers in the torque, but thats a straight conversion from some online convertor.

Hope this helps someone.

$1500 AU installed (Some may charge Extra for fitting)

Crossport will have a crakin business in the Albury Wodonga area I reckon... He's got my business although I purchased a diferent chip prior to meeeting him... (And for some reason I thought the Steinbauer was around the $3K mark)....

Once Macca's blocks arive I'll be requiring his sevices...

And not to hang shit on the chip but I can never remember how to spell it.. So I used google to translate it to find a better Aussie name to call it...

Stein means stone....

Bauer means one of the following...
n.:1. farmer

2. peasant

3. bumpkin

4. yokel

5. boor

6. churl

7. rustic

8. husbandman

9. pawn

10. cage

11. tiller

So Im going with option 5.... Stone Pig... sounds like a mod a Hilux owner would have... :D

ssdsibes,

Not sure on the torque figures... just realised its in HP on the top left...

The figures in the top left however look like the right reading for torque anyway...

Impressive figures though...

Feel like doing a weekend run up Cobbler in the snow to trial it?

Update -> Anyone local to Alb/Wodonga (OR able to get to Myrtleford early enough) is welcome...

Has anybody encounted any problems with the Steinbauer, for example the DP Chip limp home glitches? The Steinbauer seems the way to go, but I want to be sure.

With the increase in power and torque, does that mean fuel economy is compromised?
