I,m new to the forum, just wondering if anyone can recommend someone in Cairns you could trust to check & diagnose possible injector problems. Mine is a 2007 SR dual cab with 121000 km on the clock. I've had it for about 6 months now. I'm also thinking about getting a 2nd filter added.
Thanks

Has anyone tried 2 stroke mineral oil mixed in with their diesel? Theres a couple fella's on the 4wdaction forum that have been using it in their common rails and they reckon it has significantly reduced the rattles and knocks plus lubricating the inector system. Any thoughts?

With 55 pages and over 800 posts in that thread I'll wait for someone else to read it and comment . . . 8-)

had Toyota do an injector cold start diagnostic on my ute the other day (2005 D4D SR) and everything came back within spec. They also did the diagnostic free of charge.

Well i've just gotten an 06 sr D4D and have noticed the cold rattle, only when at low revs, and i haven't checked with a pressure guage yet but i reckon it only happend when the turbo begins to produce boost, also the rattle doesn't build, it's like a switch has been flicked from quiet to rattle, has anyone else noticed this?

Yeah mine is an 06 model and every time I drive off when it's cold the rattle is like a switch that turns on at exactly 1300rpm. The frosty mornings the rattle is louder. It has done this from the first day bought it. I used to tell Toyota every service about the rattle and they kept saying it was normal.

Just tonight before i left work i let it run on the warm up button for 2 minutes before i drove off, no rattle at all 8-) The temp needle was just above the bottom line.

I've got an Ultragauge installed. And have the engine temp as the main gauge. The temp needle started to move at 50degrees and settles down at 86-89 degrees.
Just some figures to help give you a picture of what the engine is doing

My 2012 is pretty good. However there is like a switch from cold to warm close to halfway on my temp gauge when my engine does change sound? I Hurd there was an injector mapping for cold as well as hot. Maybe this is it?

There should be absolutely no problems with 2008 onwards as thats when they changed to the newer DLC injectors, which are also the ones that they put into the older ones when the do an injector change. They also reflash the ecu on the pre 2008 to richen the cold start mixtures to get rid of the noise.

All crd cars make louder injection noise around the 1700 to 2200 rpm and its completely normal and nothing needs to be done unless its the cold start clunk clunk

How can you reflash an ecu without toyota? Is there a way to backup the ecu incase the reflash makes it worse?

Hi guys,
My Dad has an 09 lux with 75,000ks and yesterday he had to get it towed 160km back home after it lost power and blew heaps of smoke!
The RAC guy said it was most likely an injector problem.
He had no warning lights come on the dash.
My guess is water in the diesel from his last fill up bout 170km ago.

So assuming it is the injector and caused by bad fuel and he is out of his warranty period by less than 3 months-
Can anyone help with getting this fixed under warranty??
-Whats a good place to start?
-Has anyone had a successful out of warranty claim?
-Did you have to write letters? can you pm me a copy?
-Any evidence you can provide to back the claim that toyota know about these problems and should cover it?

Any help is much appreciated
Matt.
