White exhaust smoke on start

Hi guys

I have a 2006 hilux KUN26R which generally runs very well.

If the vehicle is parked on an incline (front down), when it starts I get a single blast of white smoke from the exhaust. No visible emission at any other time or when starting on level ground.

My question is, is this something I need to worry about and if so, what can I do?

Thanks

Neville

Hey Neville, have you ever had anyone do diagnostics on your hilux? Techstream may point to something such as injectors. White smoke is often a sign of leaking injector while the engine is stopped. Get someone with techstream such as a Toyota dealer to put some diagnostics in use, particularly injector values.
Otherwise it's hard to diagnose a vehicle without more detailed information such as maintenance history, mileage and other issues.

Have a read mate. Best get those injector seats changed.

But before that, I would drop the engine oil and check the oil pickup, have a look at these vids

The oil pickup can cleaned with kero. You just need to find a way of squirting the kero up there. I've use degreaser on mine and then put oil through the system to flush it out any left over contaminants.

Hopefully you dont have any metal shards on the pickup - that will mean you need a new engine.

Once the pickup is clean, I suggest then you get the injector seats replaced and maybe even the injectors if they are over 200,000kms old.
