FILLING UP 07 SR lux

Postby blacktrout on Tue, 17 Feb 2009 6:49 +0000

I have purchased an 07 model sr 3.0d lux, I have serious problems when trying to fuel up. At most stations the auto cut out comes on as soon as you try to fill the tank, making it a very slow and time consuming effort to get fuel in the tank.
I am thinking of trying to bend the fuel line, (approx 2in dia) between the filler cap and the tank to try and straighten the goose neck out a bit ,Any suggestions would be helpful, thanks.

Are you using hiflow bowsers? They can be a bitch. I steer clear of them and use ordinary low flow. Have had no trouble with low flow into 07 SR5 D4d styleside dual cab.

I noticed the same thing with my Hilux. What I do now is to invert the nozzle; this seems to lessen the resistance of flow and prevent the auto cut-out. The only problem is that sometimes the cut-out wont work at all and you end up with diesel spewing out when it's full! You have to keep an eye on it (and and ear!).

I sometimes have this happen, I just move the nozzle out about an inch and continue filling, I even jam the thread of the cap in the trigger so I don't have to hold it on.

if you're using a high flow pump turn the nozzle 90 degrees to your right , it works most of the time

Go the High Flow.... The missus has a club sport with a 75 litre tank... filling seemingly takes 4 lifetimes compared to filling the lux from a high flow bowser...

AS mentioned, sometimes you need to pull it back a nothc ar turn slightly... either way... your only there for 60 seconds if that...
