Custom Fuel Tank

Postby robfricke on Sun, 27 May 2018 10:20 +0000

Gday fellas,
The thought has crossed my mind to build a stainless tank to replace the stock tank that Toyota thought was a great idea to only make 70L.
Has undertaking the task to custom build with any success they would care to share photos or plans to give me some ideas?

Cheers.

Buy the time you stuff around having it designed in a CAD program, fabbed up, and I assume some sort of engineering sign off, go down to your local 4WD shop and lay the folding down on a brand that has done all of the R&D already...

X2! Just way way to much stuffing around, time and money. The engineering costs alone would nearly be the same as a replacement unit. Custom sub tanks under a tray no worries but a replacement factory unit, just buy one!

Agree with the comments above unless youre an engineer with too much time on your hands.
BTW, stainless is the WRONG material to build a fuel tank from, just go and buy one, all the R&D has been done and it will fit.
