Fitted a Denso Snorkel now I have a Boost Issue

Postby Krat on Sun, 02 Apr 2017 8:59 +0000

Hi all.
Need some advice with this one. I have just fitted a new Denso Snorkel to my 07 D4D and when I started it up for the first time I copped an engine light and a boost level on the Scan Gauge of between 3 and 4 at idle.
Took it for a short drive and the engine light went off but the Boost remains at between 3 and 4 at idle. Infact, the boost level shows a decrease as I accelerate between gears. Haven't hit the open road yet to get it up to the 100 limit to see what happens.
I have cleaned the MAF, disconnected the battery for about an hour, then restarted. Same issue as before and no codes on the Gauge.
Any clues on what I have done wrong here. Snorkel fitted easily, wires reconnected and checked. A little puzzled at this stage.
Thanks for any forthcoming advice.

Kev.

Did you clean the MAP sensor filter as well? viewtopic.php?f=13&t=20711

Did you use a sensor safe sealant? Fumes might have affected the MAF sensor?

Did you remove the intercooler for any reason?

Are you reading boost via a scanner? If so just turn the key on and leave it for a few minutes and it should go back to zero

Fitment of a snorkel should not affect the amount of air passing over the MAF sensor, Kev.
Go over the install or take it back from where you had it fitted. A lot to be said for the wrong sealants being used in this application, which was pointed out by Where's My Cat.
The Roo.
Passing through country and seeing country are two different things.

Thanks to flip9, where'smycat, mitch_893, rory18 ,and The Roo, for the quick replies.
I ended up rechecking the fitment and found no issues, no sealants used at all and intercooler was not touched so all good with these.
What I hadn't done was to recalibrate the Scangauge (Bugger - my bad), well done rory18. Engine light left no code on the gauge so couldn't check this any further but vehicle is running as usual.
Looks like an easy fix for a change :) .
Advice much appreciated.
