Postby SR5 2NV on Sun, 17 Jul 2016 11:38 +0000

Hi all.
I got my mechanic to order me a replacement valve. according to my vin it is the one on the right. When we pulled the one off the car it is different. The one on the left.
Car is 2005 1kd. Can i install the new valve or will it not work or damage something?

The internal length is longer and the width is narrower. Not sure if it will hit something inside

Nah send it back mate, same thing happened when I had one sent to me.
Heard something about the short one not being available anymore but that could be BS.
If you can't source one, try Baileys Diesel they got one for me.
To be honest I don't know if the longer one is OK to use or not, but I wouldn't be using it until I heard it straight from a Toyota parts interpreter's mouth.
Regards Chris.

How did you diagnose that the SCV required replacement?

Techstream is your friend here.

The SCV pressure must be within specifications - there is a lengthy discussion here:

I might be wrong.
