2007 Hilux D4D with 2013 D4D egine replant

Postby taon13 on Sun, 17 Jan 2016 9:21 +0000

Hi just need to put this out to see what comes back ...Have replaced my 2007 engine with 2013 engine straight change over didnt change injectors and havent as yet entered comp codes into computer .The engine started straight away and runs not bad however could run better question can i upgrade the onboard software so I can keep the 2013 set up or do I have to replace the injectors with the new set of 2007 injectors I originally purchased as far as I can see the engines are pretty much the same both 1KD-FTV and all the plugs matched up so ..if anyone has done something similar let me know the outcome or any thing I need to do to get the ute running better Thanks

The easy way is a new set of 778 (2007) injectors.

Those 2013 will be overfuelling.
New DENSO Injectors are the go! New genuine parts.
Cheers, Anth - Technician - 1KD-FTV

Check your injectors about every 10,000k.
WARNING check oil pickup screen is clear
no chips no tune ups - why increase risk of piston cracking?

Also the turbo on the 2012 onwards was not as strong as the earlier ones - known issues with longevity.

cheers yea that probaly explains the excess smoke when you give it a boot load of throttle so other than that is there any bad outcomes to drive it in the short term (1000kms) so i can get it registered etc then change injectors with the new recon baileys ones I have ?// Thanks for your input appreciate it

should be ok, just limit your right foot input and it will be fine.
