Good Injector life. A fairy tale.

Had John (talktheroo) test my injectors this morning at 320000kms (2010 2x4 dual cab owned from new). Thanks heaps John.

Seems to be going ok so far. Cylinder 3 was out a bit with the worst reading coming from it at -1.8. Not sure at what temp that was.

Suction valve (I think) was 1050kpa

EGR was closed at 50 degrees which John said was good.

I'm fully prepared to replace the injectors but not until they are out or close to out of spec. Been using Caltex diesel for around 80% of its life with BP the other 20%. Have also been using Flash Lube Diesel conditioner for the last 70000kms.

What was the total volume?
New DENSO Injectors are the go! New genuine parts.

I did, we had a chat.
As I said long/high Klm's is good.
He also tells me your egr is closed, Some do this, lucky you.
I have mentioned before, It's a theory of mine the egr is part of stuffing injectors along with other stuff.

Total volume at 50 degrees C = 6.87mm3.
In really good condition, at the moment.

I supervised some mates putting a reverse camera in his 2005 single cab sr on the weekend, it's done 400k kms on original everything except for the rear diff! Services it every 10k kms and does nothing special, I couldn't believe it after reading all the horror stories on here but I guess some people just get lucky

Being a country vehicle as opposed to a city vehicle. ie: longer runs at temp instead of start stop short runs. Thats's what I put it down to with mine.

You do have to managed high km injectors, with diagnostics.
Matter of fact, you should be doing this for all these vehicles.
Over fuelling leads to piston damage.
All I am saying is, don't stick your head in the sandpit and don't run blind.
Diagnostics let's you know where you are and when to change the injectors out for new or exchange injectors.

Because some fool in a PM said that I was full of shit on the last test on this vehicle, I thought I would photograph this diagnostic test.
We are just trying to give the members here a good news thread and one of interest.
There is no lying and this is a true story thread.
The vehicle has now done 330,000 kms.
Cold start at 28 degrees C.

Image

At 50 degrees C.

Image

Image

The old see if we can close the EGR valve test at 2,500 rpms.

Image

Image

Image

No, the bugger didn't close this time (0.00%).
Now at 70 degrees C.

Image

For the EGR valve test at 2,500 rpms.

Image

Image

The EGR valve now closes and stays closed (0.00%). As high as 90% of vehicles (1KD-FTVs) don't close at all. So, this is still a very good result for a vehicle that has done these kms in stock standard condition.

Image

At 80 degrees C you can now see that the EGR valve is totally closed by the MAF readings.
I have a number of high km vehicles now, that I service in one way or another.
Yes, that includes changing out the engine oil too, Mr. Wood.
