Does anyone use Fuel Doctor?

Postby bob14hilux on Sun, 17 May 2015 9:35 +0000

I have heard about Fuel Doctor and was interested in anybody's opinion of it.

From what I can find it is supposed to be a biocide to keep the tank clean, and also break down any water that gets into the tank into small enough particles to pass through your engine safely.

I have never been a fan of fuel additives, but would like to know of any thoughts on it.

Is it snake oil and a waste of money, or is it a good product that will save money?

I have some fuel issues at the moment and have been advised to give it a go. A couple of people I know have used it with great results. But I am a bit cautious as you sound.

I used it when I had some fuel contamination problems on my motorhome. Didn't notice any improvement after 30km or so. In the end I made up an external filter system with two filters and a water separator and circulated the diesel using a 12volt pump until there was no noticeable contamination/water in the filter system. Also not a great fan of additives but had the Fuel Doctor recommended as an instant fix. Won't be in a hurry to use it again.
